The days are busy and the jet lag still a problem so I'm finally able to start catching up on the last two days of travels. We left Delhi early Sunday morning and traveled a total of 8 hours to Jaipur. It's really only 250 miles but the roads are crazy and often slow, lines at tolls were long, and we made a couple of stops along the way. Now that I'm out, I realize it's good to be out of Delhi. The country that you see along the road is very different and certainly unique...from the decorated trucks, to the cows and bulls on the road and along it, the sights kept the trip from being boring. People packed intp pick ups and old buses seem to find the Americans on the tour bus as ... read more

In the meantime we have developped a certain routine. The night before we received an email that our luggage is now in Delhi and not in Moscow anymore. So we decided not to buy any more clothes (one set is enough). At least, in the meantime there was a chance to get our luggage back. The problem was, that the service desk was still not answering any phone calls and further emails. So our luggage was in Delhi waiting to reach us and we could not instruc them what to do. But buying new clothes would have meant to carry more stuff with us later on. So back to our routine: before going to bed, washing our clothes, hanging them right under the fan - and it works. The next morning, they are dry! Like this ... read more

To be honest, we had mixed feelings about our trip to India. If it was not for the inauguration of the Bhakti Marga temple and ashram by our spiritual master Paramahamsa Vishwananda we would have probably stayed at home. But attending such a ceremony with your own living master in the holy city of Vrindavan is a once in a lifetime gift! So it was a great reason to go to India again. Despite what had happened during our last trip (when Nina ended up in hospital , when we visited a city that consited only of garbageand when we decided to make a big break of India.....) we booked a flight, applied for the e-visa and packed our backpacks. The inauguration ceremony for the temple and ashram was supposed to take about 3 days. Therefore, ... read more

The nineteenth day was designated as a chill out day, we have so much more to do that a relaxed day was definitely in order. Curry for breakfast again started the day off nicely and then we decided to get hold of Rahul to take us to buy the train tickets we need for the last leg of our India trip. He turned up in a tuk tuk much to Alice's displeasure although it did have speakers and lights so I suppose as tuk tuks go it was a fancy one. We needed to get money out and it took us a while to find an ATM with money in it. The Indian government made the decision a few weeks ago to recall the 500 and 1000 rupee notes - two of the most common notes ... read more

On the eighteenth day I had curry for breakfast - not quite as great an idea as noodles but it definitely clears your head ready for the day! We then jumped in a car and headed off to the amber fort. As we got out of the car a man approached us carrying a wicker basket and playing a tune on a pipe, he was an actual snake charmer! He sat and opened the basket revealing a big black cobra, unfortunately the snake didn't want to play ball and full credit to the charmer he shut the basket back up saying that it was too warm for it. The amber fort itself was mind boggling, the scale of the place was unbelievable and it was hard to imagine it was all built just for a handful ... read more

The sixteenth day was a very early start, we had a train to catch at 6am so had to hop into a taxi at 5.15. The station was an experience; I had been warned already to ignore everyone other than the people sitting at counters however we were approached by people several times trying to spin us all sorts of tales ranging from 'your tickets are only for Indian people not tourists' to 'the train jumped off the tracks and is not running'. I assume these were attempted scams but a man behind the counter soon sent us on our way with the knowledge that all was well. The train journey was uneventful, we were in a very quiet part of the train and they brought us a huge breakfast halfway through the journey which was ... read more
