Hi everyone, we have just had a very exhausting but interesting day sightseeing. Temperature in high 20’s today. Started off going to Amber Fort in Jaipur where one of the tourist attractions is an elephant ride up the long steep road to the fort. We did not do this for the sake of the poor animals. There are 150 elephants giving rides in the mornings and then as it begins to get hotter the elephants go back to elephant village to rest. It is quite a sight seeing so many elephants in one place. Next we were taken to the palace of winds. Then we went to a carpet workshop where we spent about an hour trying to think how we could escape without purchasing a very beautiful rug or carpet. The carpets were amazing. Something around 5 x3ft took around 7 months to make. I even got the chance to tie some wool to the loom, not that I asked to but of course then a little more cash exited my purse and jumped into the open hand of the weaver. Oh well,he is an incredibly skilled man. The patterns are so complicated. Our driver then took us to a restaurant
for a bite to eat while he sat in the car outside. After we had eaten our next stop was to the royal observatory. There are stone constructions built outside which can calculate the time and plot the position of the planets and constellations. The person responsible for engineering these sculptures was so clever and well ahead of his time in his mathematical and engineering abilities. The last place we were taken to was the palace museum, again some beautiful architecture and many interesting artefacts to see. As usual wherever we seem to go in the world wherever there are Japanese tourists you can be assured of seeing some very over the top poses for photos. We also met a lady from Indonesia who wanted us to pose with her for a photo. It’s absurd. If we are not careful when anyone Google’s famous couples our photos will appear and may even go viral, lol.As you can imagine we are now pretty tired so I will speak again tomorrow if possible,Jane.
