Kids in the village
Getting ready for school Sarah was actually awake and in the shower before the alarm - strange. Really nice place to wake up though. Breakfast was great. Had toast with omlette, toast with honey, and some porridge with a little honey. Oh and a veg cutlet.
Took the jeeps to a local village where the kids were getting ready for school and all wanting ‘one photo’. We had a wander around and saw the school house and different areas of the village, which is divided into separate areas depending on jobs. Saw the barbers living area - that’d be my family. Also stopped to look around the different crops in a field before arriving at the castle.
It was great - when we arrived there was someone drumming and someone on a horn and we given flower garlands - a very royal welcome. Got a video clip ☺ It’s lovely here. Put our things in the room then went and enjoyed the lovely pool before lunch. Then back to laze, swim and sunbathe after lunch - fantastic! Then went horse riding which was great. Only walking but went at a good pace. Our guide was on foot and it was a really nice
day to see the area. Went past a river where some kids were all playing and swimming, most were naked and they had a little fire going so they would all run out and gather around it. Was also a funny cow that was terrified of the horses and just kept running - looked really funny when it ran - must have done half the route just running in front. Would have done better just going off to the side then behind.
After the horse riding I had a quick shower and then we went for a wonderful massage. Felt really good, particularly my legs which were sore from all the walking we have been doing on the trip, and they also did head and face, which was lovely. Not long after this, the hotel started setting something up right outside our door in the courtyard. Putting sheets down and a small step/platform. Then out of nowhere all these children appeared and gathered round, and one child was dressed up. A band was there and they started playing and the child dressed up began dancing. Found out from a man that had come with his wee boy of about
3 that it was celebrating a local 3 day festival and the boy dancing was dressed as Krishna. All the local children from the village come to watch then go back. And as quick as they appeared, they disappeared again. The man with the wee boy was lovely and so proud. He wanted to show us the English the boy knew and he was so good and really really cute. He knew body parts, counted to 10 and knew the months of the year and loads of animals. He was amazing.
Had a shower and went to watch the pre dinner entertainment but not feeling great, didn’t have the snacks. Disappointing as they had really good tandoori chicken - managed a nibble just to taste. After we moved poolside for dinner I couldn’t stomach the food smells and sight so left for bed.
General thoughts for today
- had a wonderful day
- hate feeling sick - hope I’m not going to be really ill
