We arrived in Amritsar from Delhi after an 8 hour train journey. An additional 2 hours were delays as there were protesters on the track. We were all exhausted and went to bed almost immediately. The next day we visited a fabric mill which imported wool from Australia. We watched the whole proceedure from spinning the wool all the way through to the finished product, including the weaving. All the fabrics are shipped to designer houses in London, NY, Milan, etc.
We then went on to the border with Pakistan where we watched the closing of the border which is done every evening, it was quite a spectacle. From there we visited, at night, the Golden Temple. This is a truely magical place, very spiritual, probably the most spiritual place we have every been to in the world. I can not put into words the feelings of complete joy that we felt there. It is known to have healed many and I am not surprised. Hope you enjoy our photo's.
Our host family were wonderful and we so enjoyed staying up til midnight chatting and laughing with them.
