Nezzi at Oh! Calcutta
Our first stop on our food safari. So this blog won’t really have much writing, but I’ve put up a lot of photos because it’s all about the food!!!! For Nerida’s birthday she had planned a Food Safari, which basically meant going to her choice of favourite restaurants and eating, eating, eating….The list of restaurants kept growing and I think the Food Safari lasted from the day we arrived in Mumbai until the day we left. Brett and I had lost weight during our travels in India because we managed to get sick every couple of weeks, but after our three weeks in Mumbai we have put on all the weight we’d lost and then some!
We had a great time relaxing in Mumbai hanging out with Nezzi and Khaliq, seeing the sights of Mumbai as we went. Eating lots of food, riding (and being stared at) on the trains, Brett saved Nezzi’s shoe by jumping down on the tracks to collect it. The shoe was lost after a battle to get out of the woman’s train carriage, I tell you the women are a little scary….We went to Jehangir Art Gallery, Banganga Tank, the Buddist caves in Kanheri with Khaliq and his lovely cousins Meenaz and
Mishti doi
My new favourite dessert. Anam, saw an IPL match Mumbai Indians v Kochi Tuskers Kerala (we all go for Kochi Tuskers Kerala now) and Chor Bazaar. We went to Khaliq’s cousins’ house, Nazim, his wife Rachna and lovely son Danish for dinner. We also went to Khaliq’s house and had pani puri – yummy! We ate a box of mangoes (oh to be here during the proper mango season and to help Khaliq eat, I mean pick the mangos on his farm), ate our weight in dosa’s and uttapam, discovered pav bhaji (yummy) and mishti doi (double yummy), chip butties, brownies, churros, thalis and lots of Naturals ice cream. We explored and shopped in Bandra a little more (how exciting is Bandra Fort!) and watched Monkey Dust (good old Ivan Dobsky) and Being Human!
Goodbye Mumbai! We’ll miss you and goodbye to my gorgeous sister Nezzi, who has put up with us for three odd weeks in her lovely home! Miss you and lots you lots and lots!
