Waking up to our first proper rest day and we all had a lie in. Just making it in time for the final call for breakfast the kids stuffed into as many cinnamon rolls as they could get their hands on - very healthy, but we deserve it!
After breakfast we all made our way to the beach which was quite a sight - white beaches and palm tress for as far as the eye could see and hardly a soul on it. The temperature was fast rising so we found some shade and settled in for the morning. Chloe, dad and Phoebe headed to the sea for a swim which was like getting nto a bath it was so warm. However, the waves were fairly rough as there was a steep drop off into the sea. Chloe, sensibly stayed on the shore until Dad thought it would be a good idea to do some body surfing and they were both pummelled by the waves, a short lived foray into the sea! Phoebe and Dad then went in and both got hit head over heels by a couple of big waves. Lessons learnt all round...
Lucas headed straight back
to the pool and shortly we joined him for a swim until lunch. Fizzy drinks all round for lunch but no alcohol as they dont serve it here (nor in most of the places we have been), and then we all had a snack of sandwiches of various descriptions.
The afternoon was spent relaxing and a bit of worrying by mum and dad as they tried to sort out our return journey which was proving pretty fruitless, to the extent that dad contacted work to get a direct flight to Hong Kong which is where his next big meeting is. Apart from that we read, played cards and generally unwound. Mum went off for a massage in the late afternoon; which she described as blissful - an all over body massage with some very thick liquid.....Whilst she was doing that everyone else played badminton. Phoebe was the best, to the extent that an Indian man asked for a game with her. She gave as good as she got on it and played pretty well - holding up the sporting banner for the UK very well!
We went for a brief buffet supper of Curry and Carrot Cake before
heading back to watch the next instalment of Slumdog Millionaire which the kids are loving. Half way through this we got a call from our Travel Agents (Flight Centre UK), who informed us that they had found a solution for our return journey. It was great news! They are going to fly us back at their expense - on business class - with Quatar airways. RESULT! And we will get back before our original arrival time - so its a win for everyone. We are now part of the Flight Centre faithful!!! We were all very excited at the news, jumping on the bed and shouting at the top of our voices before we realised that mum was still on the phone to them.
We slept well as a result!
