My days are full and fat with joy.
There are little children that come by Agelos's every night. Just a few nights ago, Ana brought paints over and we did an exercise with the kids. SHe played music and told us to draw what we heard, and then paint with the music. There were about 10 of us, kids and adults and you should have seen the paintings that came from everyone. It was such a cool creative exercise. Ana's so good with people.......she is encouraging and she lifts everybody up.
And she heals. Seriously. I saw it with my own eyes. Agelos was late to class yesterday because his phone had stopped working and the alarm was shot. When the three of us were back at his house, he was pushing buttons, throwing it around, cursing at it, and trying to fix it with no avail. As he disappeared into the kitchen, i watched Ana take it into here hands, shut her eyes and murmur a blessing of some sort. Within seconds, the thing worked again. Swear. I asked her what she did and she said she called on the "Pink Flame" (not to be
confused with violet) which is the flame of love.....she said the phone needed love and she called on some specific saint to give it. I know it's kooky, but i saw it work.....and it was weird.
We have a new member of our group. Her name is Laura and she hails from italy. The other night the 6 of us were sitting around to dinner and Agelos started pointing to each of us and said, "Mexico, England, SIngapore, United States, Italy, Greece." Not one of us is from the same place........and we have such a good time together. There is a fairy tale quality to the time here. For one, time seems to vanish. Two, we're all so relaxed and high from yoga practice that there's a palpable energy that is childish. I say childish because everything feels alive and interesting and new....from the art of the cooking, to the blessings we say over the meals, to the random outbursts of laughter that happen during asana class, to funny situations
that time themselves perfectly (i'll explain). Like the other day in
mantra, master ji let out his first Ohm, and normally we respond with an Ohm.....but just as we
all drew in a breath a cell phone rang in perfect synchronization, and none of us could stop laughing.
Master Ji also gives Anna a hard time because she's loud and loopy and spiritual and asks a lot of questions. SO she asked him the other day if she was allowed to show gratitude and appreciation for her teacher. He said "of course." So she handed him a box of incense and when he went to open it, it was empty.
Then at dinner the other night i was telling everyone about the ghost story from calcutta. I was just finishing the part about walking down the hallway and getting the chill all over my body when one of the neighborhood kids knocked loudly on the door. We all jumped and then fell over in heaps of laughter. It's just stupid little events like that but they're so joyful. We're giddy and i truly haven't enjoyed EVERY day, and realized i was enjoying it, since college. Such a blessing!

Yesterday was independence day. We had asana class in the morning and
the rest of the day off. It
was fun. We were invited by some of the kids that come over to Agelos’s to go see a program at their school, so we did. It was so cute! There were 4 year olds dressed like Indira Gandhi and Gandhi, and some other indian officials. Then Darun, (a boy that is always at Agelos's) did a little routine with other boys and coconuts.......it was adorable and i felt like a proud parent. I could tell that it meant the world to him that we were all there too. We were invited by the principle to sit in a special area, and then we had to give speeches to the whole school afterwards. Can you picture it? Us foreign, sweaty, yoga students addressing the future of India? Good times.
It was a really sunny day....it's been uncharacteristically so here, so we all sun bathed on the porch and ate breakfast and danced. We leisurely sipped tea, listened to fantastic music, and for no reason spun around and twirled each other in a potpourri of dance. WE've got another Greek here now and an Italian and Mexican girls in the mix, so dancing and pleasure for life are at
an all time crescendo.

Last night we had another ridiculous evening. we made makeshift
instruments out of bowls and spoons and dusty greek guitars and flutes and had ourselves a nice round of playing music, which in turn sparked
spontaneous dancing and lots of laughter. The beauty is that it doesn't matter how much noise we make here....there's no notion of being "considerate" when it comes to volume in India.....it was nice to feel like a part of the volume instead of fighting it all the time.
