This was my first winter trek and by far the most thrilling and adventurous. After a gap of two years I was again planning to do the thing I love most “trekking to offbeat locations”. The month was December which is among few months where we have winters in India. Though the southern part of India remains warm and humid throughout the year the northern part can witness very cold climate at the plains and freezing subzero temperatures in the mountains. Having done a lot of research about the place where I should visit this winter, I finally zeroed down to the “Zanskar river” trek also known as the “Chadar river trek “(Chadar in English is bed sheet or blanket). During winters the complete length of the river develops a thick sheet of ice over it ... read more

Leh-ladakh in flat Rs 25k Yes, you might feel it unbelievable, but its practically possible.. We did it. Here we are a total of 6 happy go lucky members from Mumbai, I say so because we are travelers and not tourist, which in term would mean that adjustment is the name of the game. The plan started 3 months back from our actual dates of travel ( sept 10 to 18) , so the booking of flight tickets is the most important aspect. Plan the bookings as soon as possible. Sept, I assume is the best month to travel Leh, the reasons being, It’s an off season period, you can get things cheap , the ideal travel period being March to Aug. Though Sept has the same features as compared to the best travel period, yes ... read more

K2S: Katraj to Stok Quiet an unusual trek? For those who are not from Pune, K2S stands for katraj to Sihagad, a tiring 5 hours (at least) trek made famous by Enduro. What made me to name my blog after this trek name was because I did K2S (Katraj to Sihagad) twice, thrice rather. Once a straight K2S & then….the tiring S2K & return K2S, back to back on the same day! Itserved as a stepping stone, a foundation for the mighty Stok Kangri Climb. I thank my group members for being with me. The foundation of Stok Summit was rather laid many years back during my Harishchandragad via nalichi waat (makad naal) climb, which happened to be my first trek. Innumerable treks later, I was finally prepared by the Sahyadris for the mighty Himalayas. This ... read more

... read more

My solo journey to Ladak, one of the crown jewels of India, began with meeting few strangers at the Mumbai Central railway station, who are now my friends for life. Train journey from Mumbai to Delhi was pleasing, as soon as we reached the capital of India, we commenced an overnight journey to Manali. Manali, being a high-altitude Himalayan town, the roads were no doubt scary and steep with lots of blind curves, but this was just the beginning. I woke up with a spectacular view of all mountains around and the Beas river flowing. The view was mesmerising, as fog took over the lush green mountains, the combination of colours made me feel like we were moving towards the heaven. Reaching at the hotel, we had breakfast, a brief round of introduction, and then dispersed ... read more

Rumbak Valley - Ladhaki Loving From Leh, we drove one hour to the entrance of Hemis National Park, Ladakh. From the beginning of the Rumbak Valley, we began a hike towards our new home for five nights. About ten mules were transporting our belongings plus camping equipment as we hiked ahead into the valley. Embarrassingly the mules overtook us, and were clearly better acclimatized! Once at camp, we erected tents in the most stunning location I think I have ever camped. Before nightfall arrived, we hiked up a short but steep hill nearby to observe the surrounding jagged mountains, and to look for snow leopards…no easy task! The Rumbak Valley is considered the capital city of Snow Leopards, but has no real significance when there are only about nine of them roaming around this whole area! ... read more

Possibly the luckiest traveller in the world this year! I was the plus one on a competition prize to India! Not only do I love to travel, I love it even more when it doesn’t cost me anything! A dream come true! In early November, my friend Leisa and I flew from Hong Kong to Delhi, with a transfer to Leh, in the North of India, Ladakh - Kashmir. If I am honest, I did not know that this beautiful place had existed up until this point! Flying into Leh at 3500 meters altitude, there was not much of a descent but there was one hell of a view over the Himalayas. Plunging to minus two on landing, we collected our bags from the single conveyor belt at the baron airport arrivals and were met by ... read more

travel diaries…. my amazing experience of Leh Ladakh It all started with an idea of a getaway from the daily hustle bustle of city life and mundane routine which actually binds you with normalcy and leaves very little scope of newness to it. We continue to do the same stuff on a daily basis and take solace in the thought that we are living our life and it is moving on. With an impending travel plan in mind, me and RP decided to take some time off from the city and travel to Leh Ladakh, which was suggested to us by group of friends at various point in time, but we never really decided to travel considering it wouldn’t have been a short trip and would need at least a week’s time to visit various places ... read more

How did I get Leh’d One morning at 10 AM, on my office table my phone rang, I was so excited to see my friend call, it was my bestie who called me, and he asked me to join him and bunch of other coolest friends to conquer the highest motorable roads. Yes, the trip was to ride over the foot hills of The Great Himalayas – The Manali-Leh Highway, where the only way is the Nature’s Way. The only place where you can get hit by a frost bite or the heat stroke at the same time. The Great Himalayas has it all. The wildest roads, Hairpin turns, Gushing rivers’ which flow through the roads, Streams, Snow, whether reads different every 10 minutes, hot sun to rain storm, cold deserts to dark mountains, the beautiful ... read more

“That’s it!” a shriek goes. A blue speck discovered amidst the shining sandy mountains. Yes it was the first glimpse of the mystic lake that kept reverberating in our mind for a long time. And the speck grew bigger and bigger to a long blue strip of never ending water body that challenges our eyes to think beyond the horizon. The eerie silence of the region could make you feel like a castaway-standing all alone amidst these mighty mountains. It was 7th of July 2014 when we started our journey from Leh Town to this mystical lake. The arduous terrain en route to this land lock lake is like icing on the cake for adventure freaks, surpassing the steepest ascent of Changla pass, the third highest motorable peak in the world(17586 ft). The expedition starts at ... read more
