A travel enthusiast, a scribbler on tissue paper, a complete foodie though vegetarian with a sweet tooth for cakes, and an amateur photographer I plan on penning down my travels here on this platform. A person with an extremely short term memory that I am this will serve me better than you perhaps! A novice when it comes to writing I would really appreciate constructive criticisms on the scribbles that I post here.... read more

A Fairy Tale which was converted into a Bikers Story!! Tiara was replaced by helmet and stilettos by boots…sling bag took the place of clutch…while aviators personified the eyes instead of the eye-shadow…This is how I can describe my FIRST BIKE TRIP ever…with my husband, a passionate biker who loves tough riding...who had always wished to take me along on a bike trip…seeing the beauty he admires…travel the way he loves. 1500 kms covered by bike in 4 days…Gurgaon-Manali-Jalori Pass-Shimla-Narwana-Hisar-Gurgaon….The highlight was the Jalori Pass---10,250 Ft height..Journey as scary as hell though beautiful as paradise…and the happiest moment was to see Vardaan, my son, smiling and to have him in my arms...loved every bit of my first bike trip J ...Looking forward to more!! Driving past the suave shopping malls and glass & chrome high-rises of glitzy Gurgaon, we hit the dusty Basai Road, where the road widening appears a perennial activity and the last of land-grabbers (read realtors) promise to offer fancy life styles in their fancier gated townships named after some esoteric English counties. A few kilometres down the road the scene changed for better…the dirt & grime gave way to greenery of wheat fields with patches of bright yellow hues of marigold cultivation. Driving along we reached Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary, a huge water body, where many species of migratory birds home in during the winter. We headed to Rosy Pelican, a Haryana Tourism outfit for a breakfast with stuffed paranthas and sandwiches. After the quick fill and a short drive of about 5 kms. we reached Farukhnagar. ... read more

Rishikesh is known as the "Gateway to the Himalaya" but its real claim to fame is that the Beatles came here in 1968 and wrote most of their songs on the White Album, What I've noticed mostly about rishikesh is the amount of yoga studios, ashrams, spirtuality retreats, ayureveda spas ect. it's a place you come to find your inner om I suppose that is the reason I came as well although I am so happy that my ashram was outside of town, quiet, peaceful beautiful. Rishikesh town is as insane as Delhi as I ventured in on my last day with two friends we found ourselves practicing all the tecniques of inner calmness we had been learning over the past three weeks. We lasted about 20 minutes and then we headed back to our safe ... read more

Most folks live their lives within the confines of a 12 month calendar that begins in January, ends in December and loosely includes four seasons such as summer, spring, fall and winter. Our family is a little unusual in that regard. Sure, we abide by the 12 month calendar, but our year begins in September...when football season begins. In lieu of champagne toasts, black-tie affairs and resolutions, we kick-off our year with tailgate parties, poll projections and parties where everyone sports team wear. We also have four seasons, but we call them Preseason, Regular season and Bowl season. Once football season ends, we enter the stark, cold season of hibernation. This is when the only thing to look forward to is Next season. So if you follow football even a little bit or have met anyone ... read more

It's been a couple of weeks now and its time to tell you about the Ashram. I am staying at the Sadhana Mandir Trust participating in a 21 day Self Transformation program although we like to call it Sewage Treatment Program because of all the crap you have to go through. It's been intense two meals a day, two two hour yoga sessions 2 1 hour meditation sessions and then 5 hours of lectures in which we learn about the science of yoga, mindful conscious awareness and so many other things. My day begins at 4:30 am and I get to sleep at 11:30pm. So why did I come? Being here has given me time and space to clear my mind and to learn to "keep on Keeping on" as we are told every day. My ... read more

It's been four days since I have arrived here in India and I think I have felt every emotion a person can feel. Sadness at the thought of leaving friends and family, fear of the unknown, total comfort and total discomfort, disgust, love, serenity, frustration, stupidity for wanting to come alone and happiness to have made it and courage for staying. Many before me have experienced India, f riends told me what to expect, what to take with me, what to say ect.. but what i realize as I sit here now trying to describe my last few days is I can't. India is indescribable, like no place I have ever been. Its a place so intertwined that you have extreme poverty side by side to the posh upscale areas, old nearly crumbling buildings housing beautiful ... read more

You can get an Indian driver’s license if you were Indian in a past life. Road signs urge parents to “Never Encourage Your Children to Drive!” Cows take siestas on sidewalks and elephants walk alongside highways. There are over 330 million gods available to answer your prayers. World-renowned lamas come over for afternoon tea. Sequins aren’t reserved for special events. Tailors still make clothes. Scaffolding is built with bamboo. Guards outside of banks carry original 18thcentury muskets. People are named Vijay. Body odor is sweetened by sugar and spices. Chana masala and masala chai. The Ganga. The Indian head waggle that communicates countless exchanges, such as: Yes; I Understand; As You Wish; No Problem; Go For It, and Thank You, but No. People are capable of waiting without losing patience and are similarly nonplussed when things ... read more

I returned to Faridabad for a few days before continuing on to the next destination of my journey- Guatemala. I felt an overwhelming sense of relief once I arrived back at my “home away from home”. How comforting it is to walk around a familiar community, stay in a familiar house, sleep in a familiar bed, and have the company of familiar people. It really is the best feeling (and many of us take it for granted)! Natalie, Heather, John, and I have lived together in close quarters for nearly eight weeks and have grown to be like a family. Of course we have not seen eye to eye on all matters and we have likely gotten on each other’s nerves once in a while but those moments have been far outweighed by much fun and ... read more

The time has come to take a break; to unpack my bag and stay awhile. I will soon retreat into a meditation center in the north, where I will focus all of my attention on my breath – and not what’s happening on Facebook. As such, don’t expect to hear anything more from me for at least two months. I’m sure that I’ll flood your inbox with stories when I’m back in the “real world,” but for now, don’t worry about me. Trust that I am safe, and happy. Instead of sending me an email when you think about me, send me love and light. Take care.... read more
