Brahmakumaris besides bhalka tirth
museum, light and sound show and space journey We headed towards Somnath Jyotirlinga temple. Somnath temple one of most important Lord Shiva temple. The history of this temple is a true proof of the Glory of India in past.
Before rise of west india was richest country in the world. Christopher Columbus landed in 1492 in West Indies when he tried to reach india from west. There where specialist persons who made maps in britain who were finding sea route to reach golden land of india. Richness of Indian land have attracted Mugals, portugese and britshers. How did india became worlds richest country then? This also raises questions as to how was journey of indian civilization from apes to worlds richest country. If the temples of india were so rich, how rich would be the citizens of india in those period. Somnath is the place which forces a person to think on these things. Also, history of india dont have event where indian kings made proactive attack on near by countries for getting wealth. So the richness of indian region is actually direct blessings from god then from any other source.
The current form of temple was formed by Sardar Vallabhbhai patel. Its also our love for this temple that
this part of land is currently in India and not of Pakistan. The temple have photo gallery which shows the old form of temple which was in very bad state. Every evening at 7 pm there is a light and sound show which shows the history of somnath. The temple management should seriously think on making it a more visual by applying some concept of showing images and movies on foutain as its done in hyderabad. There is lot more to be shown which current light and sound show is missing.
Also, when you visit this temple and read the local literature you come to know that Rani Ahilyabai Holkar had attributed to renovations of many Jyotirling. She is considerd prominant shiv bhakt and had tremendous love for lord shiva and their temples.
The temple is located on the seashore so its refreshing to sit here for a while. Next day morning we went to bhalka tirth where shrikrishna is said to left this mortal body. Just besides bhalka tirth is Brahmakumaris Museum.
Having visited these places we left for Porbandur. The road is parellel to seashore and so has ample coconut farms. Porbandur is a city
porbandur kirti mandir
birth place of mahatma gandhi where Mahatma Gandhiji were born. Kirti mandir is place. Sudama temple, Chowpati and Bharat mandir where other places we visited. Bharat mandir is like a musume which has huge map of india and pictures depicting important monuments and cultural of india. Sudama temple is place where shri krishna hade gifted him palaces of gold.
Our next destination was Dwarka. This route was again parellel to seashore but now the fertile land seemed to disappear. Huge coconut farms were replaced by Wind turbines across around 60-70 kms patch. Dwarika is the city where shrikrishna lived. Shri krishna temple, seashore, gomtinadi confluence are places to visit in local dwarka. Near by places around 40 kms journey includes rukmani temple, vasai where there are old temple, nageshwar jyotirlang, gopitalav, mithanagar and bet dwarka.
Rukmini temple is around 1.5 kms from dwarka. This is a place where a queen from vidarbh who was belived to be kidnapped by shrikrishna from vidarbh. If you visit Amravati in vidarbh you can see the gate of underground route in temple from where rukmini was kidnapped. Once you starts heading towards Okha for reaching bet dwarka you cross the railway line. Just after few minutes you
will see a left turn for vasai. Vasai has 2 old temples. Its a place which would entice only people having deep interest of history because currently the temples are not in good shape. The tourist guide brochure says that there is a sun temple. But the locals even dont know that there is any sun temple around. Actually, locals dont consider the 2 temples as temples. For them its actually some archeological place. Its only when you say you want to see puratan temples they realise what we are asking for. From vasai the straight route could be taken for nageshwar temple. In between you can see some natural lakes with beautiful birds, a good place for bird sighting. I dint happen to learn much about nageshwar temple.
For bet dwarka we have to visit Okha. From there we have to take ferry which takes us to island. Dwarka has a local tourist buses which shows rukmani temple, nageshwar jyotirling, gopital and bet dwarka.

Somnath-Dwaraka Tour
The description of the places of Somnath, Porbandar and Dwaraka is good. The views expressed are very apt.
