I am just back from that serene, relaxing and yet magestic Goa. What a marvelous place on earth. Pity, its only now being recognised as a holiday destination in the recent times. Goa has got just about every thing - Beautiful beeches on the west coast, sumptuous sunset to keep you enchanted, Coconut palm sprinkeled landscape, small and yet imposing hills, water sports like surfing and jet skies, great restuarents to please the connousiers and very very friendly and laid-back people permitting the forginers to mix and mingle wihtout any fear or restrainment. As if these were not enough - a group of dolphins engaged in the never ending chase of fleeing schools of fish will keep you captivated. If you want some more then you can go to watch the sleek and agile birds in ... read more

Goa is lined with beaches from north to south, with each beach offering something different. I don't really know why I chose Palolem of all the places, but I'm sure as hell glad that I did… The beaches are beautiful, the weather is bliss and best of all, the people here, both locals and foreigners, are great. I have met heaps of people and been a great time enjoying everything Palolem has to offer. Last night being one of the best nights I've had since traveling. After my daily ritual of a swim in the ocean and a game of beach cricket, I sat down at the restaurant next to my bungalow. Sitting on some pillows, watching the sunset, drinking beers and chatting, soaking up the atmosphere, a guy from Liverpool went and got his guitar. ... read more

22 and counting... It was my birthday yesterday so I began the day laying on Vagator beach sipping strawberry juices, taking a walk over the nearby hills, and in true Shakirah fashion having an Indian Ayurdevic massage before chilling with friends at a local bar and eating cake... bliss. Im actually finding it a little difficult not doing much, its a far cry from my usual hectic London life, but Im in the process of getting used to it, the chillum's definitely helping. We've been to a few of the nearby beaches, excluding the charter touristy ones and they're all quite peaceful as its low season and most backpackers have moved on. Although it wasn't so quiet a couple of days ago when we watched a filming a music video on Vagator beach. We're currently staying ... read more

Aah, the sweet smell of India.... That's the first thing that hits you as soon as you step off the plane. We've had no problems whatsoever since we got here.... Delhi was way too hectic for a small town boy like Erik, so after 3 hours in Delhi, we headed to Agra, which was a four hour drive by a crazy tour guide called Hari, who drove at 100mph. We did the obligational touristy stuff such as Taj Mahal and the Red Fort (not to be underestimated), then we took a bumpy 34 hour train ride to Goa where we are now spending our lazy days chillin, riding scooters, partying, beaching and shopping at late night flea markets in the company of our Swedish friends Thor and Marika. Goa seems to be cool so far... Photos ... read more

Lads... this place is mental. The chaos started on the plane when we ordered the Indian Vegetarian dinner and nearly choked to death from the heat. The woman behind B started giving us tips on how to eat our food and deal with the heat. There were tears of both pain and laughter from the pair of us!! And so it began.... So what have we been up to since we left Sydney. We had to spend a week in Bangkok in the end waiting for our visas to come through and after my last adventure in 2002 I was more than a little anxious giving away my passport to a travel agent on Khao San Road. But it arrived when they said it would so happy days. The week in Bangkok was okay if a ... read more

Today we decided to go on a drive, our friend got his red jeep and we all set off, we decided to go to Reddy fort and beach. The Goan forts remain from when Portugal reigned in Goa, they are all ruins now and are really beautiful. Reddy beach is below and is one of the quitest beaches in Goa. They have just approved plans to build a new airport near here so it will not be peaceful soon! ... read more

It is easy to forget what day of the week it is while our days on the beautiful beaches of Goa blend together--body surfing on the waves of the Arabian Sea, laying out in the sun while women with fruit on the heads cut us fresh pineapple, playing cricket on the beaches at sunset, visiting with our friendly staff and fellow travellers...life is good. The sea, however, has attacked Graham recently. Yesterday, while we were body surfing, a huge wind-storm was creating some massive waves. We got rocked by one particularly behemoth wave, after which graham screamed "my tooth! i lost my tooth!" thats right...the sea ate his tooth...the sea was angry that day my friends (it was a temporary tooth, but nonetheless, quite a powerful wave) other small attacks on graham were the little crabs ... read more

So Air Deccan actually is a legitimate airline company (I wasn't so sure about it until I got to the booking counter at the airport) and isn't a website looking to swindle me out of my money despite the fact that no local Indian has heard of this airline. For those of you interested, Air Deccan is supposed to be a low-cost alternative to the major airlines with tickets 1/5 of the competition's pricing. I took Air Deccan from Bombay to Goa. The flight from KL to Mumbai/Bombay was alright but the flight got in late and so I paid a ridiculous amount of money to ensure a room near the airport. I met a lady on the flight who offered to have her driver drop me off at a bus station near Calangute so I ... read more
