Finally pay day is nearing, yet I have still managed to successfully have an amazing month in Hong Kong despite lacking funds! Thus is the beauty of Hong Kong!
Last week I was incredibly lucky to have two days off work thanks to typhoon Hagupit which travelled south of Hong Kong towards the mainland. The Hong Kong observatory issue warnings on the level of severity of the typhoon from T1 upwards. The strongest I've seen is T9, and Hagupit reached T8 on Tuesday evening. However, kindergarten classes are cancelled if there is a T3 warning, so I managed to get two days off work which I spent swimming and relaxing!
I have recently joined the Happy Valley netball club, and found out I was successful in making it to the second team after a few weeks of trials, so I was pleased about that. Our first match will be in October.
I've been on another junk boat, and evening one which was fantastic. As we went around Victoria harbour, the light show was taking place, so from all sides the sights of Hong Kong were lighting up. We went to a calm area of water to the east
of Hong Kong Island for dinner before coming back towards the centre and once again appreciating the city - a 'Hong Kong moment' as we call them!
Through friends, I'm still discovering some great places in Hong Kong, there is so much I still don't think I will have seen it all after two years! Last weekend I was sitting out on a deck of the IFC mall building in central (tallest skyscraper) with a live DJ, chilling out with friends, it was so nice and chilled out - another discovery to thank my friends for!
On Thursday night this week, we celebrated our friend's birthday with karaoke, and felt like we really had become part of Hong Kong culture - birthdays and karaoke together, that's a very typical HK celebration! It was great fun! Then thankfully Friday arrived along with the weekend!
I spent Saturday on a junk boat with some old colleagues and their new employees which was nice. Got a bit pink from all the swimming in the sea but had a lovely day and then a fab seafood dinner in Sai kung before heading back and hitting the town for a night out

...you have to look up a lot in Hong Kong!
on the 28th floor of a hotel in a very nice bar with a view in Central.
1st October is national day in Hong Kong, a public holiday to celebrate the founding of the people's republic of China. After a nice swim I took a tram along the island to the open deck on the IFC once more and enjoyed a picnic with friends, a trip to the movies and then a spectacular fireworks show over Victoria harbour.
So, that's the latest happenings from this special administrative region! There's reportedly another typhoon on the way so I'll keep you posted!
