Hello everyone!! This is my test run for this blog website. I am not sure who is really interested in reading this, but maybe at least one person will read it :) I made it to Hong Kong with really no problem at all. The flight was long, but it actually went by pretty fast. I have already been here two days and I have a pretty good start! My apartment is beautiful- it is small, but very cute. And it has a great view! I have met some lovely people here already. The school has really reached out to take care of me. This afternoon was the first time I was alone besides sleeping :) I didn't quite know what to do with myself. I am still working on getting a phone and internet. I ... read more

Summer in Hong Kong can be resort-like. Living in Stanley, just 12 km from the centre of the city, there's the beach sounds and smells, the playgrounds, and the pool. Most of all, there's the pool - large, child-friendly, and on our doorstep. Of course, in the heat of the day, when the searing sun would cook the likes of Byron, there's the inflatable pool in the backyard. And what a treat that is. It is not just the fun of sitting in the cool shallows. The process of filling the pool is an adventure for Georgia and Byron who love to spray the hose around and share its coolness with their unsuspecting parents. And slow-paced afternoons in the backyard pool roll on into dinner on the terrace overlooking Stanley Bay. On the weekends there's summer's ... read more

First off all we got the MTR to Central and then walked up these big hills to the base station of the Peak Train. This is a funicular railway which goes up to the Peak, a bit of a misnomer as it’s actually in a pass between two hills. There have been a lot of changes here in the last 12 years as there are now a lot of shops and the ability to go to the top of the Peak Tower. The Sky Terrace is 428m above sea level and the view all over the island is amazing. It was well worth the additional HK$20 to go to the top. We spent ... read more

We headed back to HK this morning. When we finally arrived around 1:30-2pm-ish, after being stuck in immigration for hours, we went for breakfast/lunch at a ritzy downtown hotel's buffet. SOOOO GOOOD!!!!!!!!! We seem to be in the constant state of feasting. I thought for sure this trip would be the weight loss solution I have been searching for... WRONG. We have both probably gained a hundred pounds since we've gotten here. Always always always eating. After lunch we grabbed a bus to Hong Kong Island (you drive in a tunnel under the ocean instead of taking the ferry) and went to the Stanley Market. We wandered around the shops and ventured out around the ocean and piers there. It was too humid for my camera when we got off the bus so I only got ... read more
