The Summer Palace is the Palace that the Emperors of China in the Ming Dynasty used to go for their vacation to in Beijing. It is a vast area that we spent the whole day in but didnt get to explore all of it. 14,000 Beautiful old Chinese handpaintings covered the walls of a long corridor leading to a 17 arch bridge in the middle of the lake it was built around. We hired a boat for an hour for the three of us which was battery powered. While making our way back to shore the battery started to run out and we had visions of having to swim our way to shore as shouting help to anybody in surrounding boats could have meant anything to them us being the only westerners we saw! We finally made it to shore and relaxed in the beautiful surroundings for the day.
