A lot of things happening and u didnt still tell me to shut up so i just continue writing!
Well have you ever been to a Chinese restaurant eating your Indonesian rice, Vietnamese spring roll and Surinamese sandwich (the latter part is to exclude for those who have not been to the magic kingdom of the Netherlands) and by chance took a look at one of those paintings on the wall asking yourself the two following questions: 1st, why does every bird have more than one tail? and 2. where can you find a surreal landscape like this??
Well, why I am still working on the tail question I found the answer to the second! It is Hangzhou! Its all there! The boats, the hills, the tiny little fishes and people do actually wear these weird hats! Even if part of it is artificial (and it wouldn't be in China if it would be older than 200 years) I have to say it was an amazing place to be! A friend told me once that god must be in love with Italy for making it so beautiful, well I guess he has a side affair with China!
The laughing Buddha
4 days spent in this oriental paradise I managed to arrive in Nanjing yesterday and as some of you might expect I have put my cultural observation glasses on once again (apparently it takes more than this to brake a true Nietzschean Freigeist, kabooooom!).
Well anyway, there are only two kind of stories which are not in need of an epiphany... The first kind are so good that they dont need one and the second one are so bad that they dont have one! I hope my story is not that bad (while I am sure that it is not that good either) so I found my moment of epiphany here in Nanjing. I have been speaking to plenty of Chinese people lately and they are very eager to share their hopes, lives and dreams with a foreigner, which allows me a good insight in their culture and situation..
Well, to make a long story short, the Chinese mind works very differently than what we think to know in Europe and I have been surprised by the high ammount of self criticism which is in my opinion the first step to a culturally developed country (and we lack
that a lot in Europe, dont we?). Anyway, China is on the run and for sure its running faster than every other country I have seen so far! Change is visible and even more tangible.
Anyway, I have been exploring Nanjing today or at least parts of it. It is similar to any other Chinese city so far, everything is bigger in China (everything?) and so also in Nanjing. Skyscrapers over skyscrapers and a steady come and go of people. The interesting part waits for me tomorrow: a preserved city wall from the Ming dinasty..
Well guys take care wherever u are and whatever u do.
