I was lucky to be touring in this region during this winter month. Just looked at the rest of the country is under snow frozen sky and I was sweating with sunglasses on, walk from gum forest to banana grove, sugar cane bush to tea plantation. and villagers are busy in sugar cane harvasting, some area even begin plantation work. Menghai county processed all Banna ingradian with even more tea plantation. they claimed to had the oldest tea tree in the world that was age over 2000 years, but sadly heard it was dead just awhile ago, perhaps the tree was too tired of being hug by tourists！I went check out the rest of the township which hadn't visit before in the region, of course...market！but was disappointed by the minority scene. Daluo is a boring border town and Mengsong market is tiny without much interest. even the remote Mengwang market are colourless. Mengzhe and Menghuan market although busy but wholely dominated by Dai or people that dressed like Dai. but if you looking for busy market you better off stuck in Menghai town, the daily market is lively and busy. I did saw couple of Bulang once in awhile, especailly in
Bada market, many women still kept in their proper costume. but lodging in Bada was limited and ugly, and worser...they even cost higher, room like those in Guizhou would charge less than 10 yuans. the Bada surrounding are rather interesting for a longer hangout if the accommodation is more acceptable. but....most people are not really friendly and...being near the border and many millitary around always got into my nerve.
