Hi All,

A 4 hour bus ride from Dali to Lijiang, through some really stunning scenery, which passed without a hitch. There are a lot of places to stay in the old town and we soon found one that was in our price range. It was a wooden house in the Chinese courtyard style. Some of these touristy places are becoming very similar. Although called Old Town it has a very new feel to it and boy was it busy.

While Dany had a snooze in the hotel I went in search of the Mao statue, which was easy to find. A statue which I assume was erected after his death, it had his birth and death dates on the front, yet he's dressed as a Red Guard celebrating one of China's most chaotic and violent periods of history. I'm still struggling to understand the cult status that still exists here.

In the evening we ate in a Tibetan restaurant and I tried Yak meat for the first time, tasted like beef, and then we went for a stoll around the old town.

Enjoy the photos

Jah Bless
