Hi All,
Fascinating place to visit with the deepest traditionally drilled well in the world and it still produces salt brine. Zigong is famous for its salt and once upon a time there were wooden derricks and bamboo pipes all over the city.
The bamboo ropes and bamboo poles may have been replaced by modern equipment but the process is basically the same as it has been for generations. It was great to go into the hot room where they use the natural gas that comes from the well to turn the brine into salt. It was lovely and warm compared to the cold winter's day outside.
