May 6, 2017 ...nearly 4 am local. (Chengdu) Made it in after delays in Shanghai. Met a student from UPenn who is from Chengdu and got some good restaurant tips - not that we don't get plenty of the local fare from our gracious hosts here! Two residents picked me up and the driver got me to the Pairui Hotel - familiar territory. A couple of hours sleep and then off to blindness prevention outreach at 8 am! Here safe and sound. Weather is cool but nice.
