Porcelain street
Let the shopping begin. Yesterday was a busy day. We went downtown Nanchang to Porcelain Street. That's it's nick name, I couldn't read what the street was really named. One of the other things the Jiangxi Province is famous for is their porcelain. The province is the "Porcelain Capital" because it has been producing quality pottery for 1700 years and has became known internationally for being " (1)as thin as paper, (2) as white as jade, (3) as bright as a mirror, and (4) as sound as a bell". All I can say was there was store after store selling everything from little tiny pieces to vases that stood 6 -7 feet tall. Believe or not those weren't very expensive but shipping would cost a fortune. No way you're going check or carry one of those on the plane. A lot of the stuff is hand painted, cost a little bit more then the machine made stuff but most of it wasn't bad as far as this kind of stuff goes, it's not really my cup of tea. Speaking of which Jenny bought 4 cups with matching spoons and saucers. Now all we have to do is make it home with them unbroken. When the

Group shot of us at the park. woman working there found out we were here to adopt 2 more girls she gave us a hand-made chop stick set. Three pairs with the little holder thing you lay them on to keep them from laying on your table. She told us it was a gift because we were such good people for giving the girls a home. Yep, that made a lump come up in my throat.
After we left there we stopped by a local park but passed one of the main markets for fresh fruits and vegetables. We have one set of grandparents traveling with us. Grandfather wanted to go back up the street to explore. He's originally from Taiwan so he was brave enough to venture in with the locals. I'm sure there were not any English speaking tour guides in that crowd. He came back with these neat snacks, sort of like a sugar cone for ice cream cone, but not really sweet, very buttery tasting and rolled more like a canolie without the filling. We also got a couple pieces of cake, which was a cross between pound cake and angelfood cake. Again, not to sweet but really good. I thought it

Yes it was cold enough that those coats felt good. was funny that he wanted to stop to get some fruit and came back with baked goods.
While they were doing the market thing we were waiting at the entrance for the park having an interesting conversation with one of the guards (or park ranger, whatever he had a uniform on), that worked there. He was very interested in us and asked lots of questions. Rose Qing Ling did a lot of the talking, Evelyn just keep us in the loop as to what everyone was talking about.
The girls seem to be getting along the more they spend time with each other. They laid down to take a nap yesterday after we got back. Wish I could have taken a picture but they had stripped down to the basics because our room is like an oven and I'm sure they would have been upset but they were laying there asleep holding hands. It would have been a sweet picture though. Also, another plus of them starting to bond. Rose was fine with sleeping without Ma Ma last night.
Evelyn picked up Rose's passport and the other documents we received from the Registration office. Those we'll need

They had paddle boats you could rent but it was to cold to be out on that water splashing it up on you. Didn't seem to stop the locals. for more paperwork when we get to Guangzhou. We looked them over and everything seems to be in order, at least all the names are spelled correctly and the dates are right.
Today we head to Guangzhou, looks like it's about a 1-1/2 hour flight. The hard part is we have to keep our checked bags under 44 pounds. It was hard enough keeping them under 50 pounds coming over here. Needless to say we're moving things over to 2 of the carry-on bags since we can now have 4 checked bags. Hopefully that will keep us under the limit. The other part of that is we have to have our bags outside our room by 7:30 and be checked out by 8:00. The breakfast buffet doesn't open until 7:00 and someone has to be here to tip the bus-boy when he comes to get the bags. I'm going to let Jenny take the girls down since they'll complain a whole lot more if they don't get breakfast then I would. Beside I could stand to loose a meal or two and they have some much stuff at the buffet it's hard to eat a light breakfast. I have
Building in the lake
Not sure what this building was for, best I could tell you had to ride one of the paddle boats to it. some pictures from yesterday but the camera is already packed so I'll have to add them after we get to Guangzhou.
Sure hope the weather is better then it was when we landed here. That flying for 20 minutes in fog and not being able to see the ground isn't something I enjoy.

On The Road Again!
Are we there yet? Looking at the map, it doesn't look like it would take you an hour and a half to fly to Guangzhou. I am glad that everything is in order for Rose. Does she know that is her new name yet?
