I was extremely nervous before I left for China. In fact, I cried my eyes out as my brother dropped me off at my friend Diarra's aunt's house the day before I left. (Thank you again Mrs. Lorraine for allowing me to stay in your wonderful home, and then taking Dee and me to the airport at 5 AM the following morning!) I had been so pumped up for leaving the U.S., but when the time came to actually board the airplane, I truly wanted to back out. The drive to the hostel was nice going through mountains and little towns such beautiful scenery and I was hopeful when I seen the reception area of where I was staying bug chandelier and balcony thought I'd hit it lucky until I seen the room felt the bed and nearly died upon opening the bathroom door. It's ok I can do this I repeatedly told myself it's only for a few days so I jumped in to bed and had a few more hours sleep. Woke up in need of a shower so let's brave this bathroom with a squatter toilet close enough to spit in I stood under the shower head that looked older than me turned it on and let out an almighty scream it's bloody freezing!!! Mid-Autumn Festival: Mid Autumn Festival or Harvest Moon Festival is a major Chinese holiday that occurs on the 15th day of the the 8th moon on the Lunar calendar. (China along with many other countries such as South Korea, Japan, and Vietnam also celebrate this holiday). America uses the Gregorian calendar but in China I’m operating on Lunar time. These past couple of weeks have been exhausting. I’ve never gone through such an intense moment in my life. It’s only been a month since I’ve been in China and I already feel as if I have learned so much about myself. It’s been a while since I last updated my blog so I’m going to try and recap the past three weeks covering many different topics. This will be a long post since a lot has happened in three weeks.
