Hi again all...
Well After a long train ride I made it to Wuhan...While I was on the train I met a nice Chinese girl name Pei Pei... She was in Shanghai for business and was now returning back to Wuhan where she lives... When we got off the train she helped me find a hotel close to the train station... And after that she even helped me find a place to get my laundry done... She helped me do all this before she went home... I must say that she was a inspiration... And what a kind person... She even offered to show me around Wuhan the next day and I accepted... After Pei Pei left to go home I went to look around the city... Now, I don't think that Wuhan is an impressive city but I thought that it did have some charm to it... I went to the former headquarters of the Wuchang Uprising... I then went to take a look at one of the shopping mall areas... Typical mall with western food and shops... I then found a internet shop and wrote for a few hours... Then off to the hotel and chilled out in
Pei Pei
My great tour guide and new friend... front of a TV and watching the english movie channel...
The next day Pei Pei picked me up at the hotel and we were off... The first stop was Mosham on East Lake... On the lake was a bunch of little Islands that where all joind together by causeways... We end up at one of the Islands that was part of the Chu Dynasty... What a nice outdoor experience... We walked around for a few hours and took in the sights... In one of the temples we saw a music show where they were playing the a bunch of bells... Not too bad... Our next stop was the Hubei Provincial Museum... The museum was showing the Zenghouyi Tomb which was unearth in 1978... It was quite interesting and worth the 2 hours that we were there... Then it was off to a place to eat... And we chose a place called Brazil BBQ... They bring you BBQ meat on a spit and just cut the meat away onto your plate... That gave us a full stomach...LOL...We then went to pick up my laundry and brought it back to my hotel...Ha clean clothes again...LOL... Pei Pei now took me to
the Yangzi river bridge which was one of China's first engineering feats... The bridge is apparently 110 meters long with a railway underneath... It gave a good view of the river and the other two cities that make up Wuhan, Hankou and Hanyang... It was now getting late and Pei Pei and I said goodnight... But we were going to meet up again the next day for another tour... After I left Pei Pei I took a walk along the Yangzi river...It was a nice sunset and itwas a good night to catch the sun...I even met some nice friendly people that wanted to just say HI and not ask me for sex massage...LOL... I then went to the internet place to do some more writing and while I was there I met the manager... He didn't speak alot of english but we both understood each other... I was showing him my web blog and showing him all the places that I have been and some of the other places that other bloggers were... I then told him that what I needed was a CD tray so that I could upload my Pic's... He told me that if I came
back the next day that he would help me with it...Nice guy!... After I just went back to the hotel and called it a night...
The next day I met up with Pei Pei and we went to Hankou which is on the otherside of the bridge... We wnt for a ni ce walk along the seawall of the Yangzi river... Then we went to a walking street that was also a Mall... We stopped of at a coffee place for sit and talk and when we were leaving there was a Canadian guy that saw my flag and we talked for a bit... Whi le we were all talking this American guy came in to grab his coffee and stopped to talk with us...He heard me talking about the construction that has been going on in China a told us that he is an Investor in some of the buildings that are being constructed here in Wuhan... Basically he was saying that he would rater come here to China and build because he pays his workers about $1us an hour, doesn't have to pay OT and benefits and if he has a problem he just pays off the
government... He then left the coffeeshop got into his black chaufeured Audi and drove off... When he left we all looked at each other and just rolled our eyes... What a loser.... Even Pei Pei understood what a knob this guy was... Then Pei Pei took me for my first Chinese haircut...LOL... It was funny to have some one to wash your hair for 15 mins but it felt GOOD!...Not the best haircut that I have ever had but it will do for now...I then said goodbye to Pei Pei and thanked her for her time and kindness that she had showed me her in Wuhan... What a great girl... I hope that we can stay intouch and be good friends... I then went to the internet place to met Simon... He set me up with a computer with a CD tray and I was off preparing my Blog...Another guy saw my pics and was asking questions about where I have been ... After I was done Simon and the other guy ask me out to dinner and I accepted... They took me to a restaurant near the university and we had some great chinese HOTPOT.... Boy it was spicy...
but so good... They wanted to pay but I told them that I felt that I should pay because of all the help that Simon gave me on my web blog... and after a few mins of haggling I won...LOL...These guy don't have a lot of money.... We then went back to the internet place and said goodbye and what can I say except that ""Simon your are the greatest and I wish you well in life and happiness"".... I then went back to my hotel and tried to make up my mind on whether to head to Yichang to see the Three Gorges or head to Chengdu... I figure that I would make up my mind when I woke up...
So when I woke up I made the desion to head to Chengdu... I went to the train station and got the only ticket that I could in the hard sleeper class on the train... It left at 5pm from the same train station that I bought the ticket from... I then went to see the city of Wuhan one more time...I went to the Yellow Crane Tower which served as a military observ ation post... I then
Chu Dynasty
A tower on the gate... went to see the Yangzi river for a final look and the it was off to the train station... I got there early so that if it ended up that I was at the wrong station I had the time to get to the other station... But It was the right station and I was a very happy person.... Once on the train I found out what a hard sleeper was all about... Its basically three bunks in a row on and I was on the middle bunk... It wasn't the greatest but the people that I met on this trip were awesome... I met so manny Chinese people that just wanted to know about me... There was even a young guy that wanted to learn how to play chess , so I gave him afew lessons...LOL... The trip was 19hrs from Wuhan to Chengdu... Avery long trip but a great time with some awesome people...
I want to say this, I love Wuhan... After being in Beijing and Shanghai this place so far in China is the Greatest... The People are Great all is great here... But the toilets still are GROSS...
Well again I would like
to say Thank you all for reading my blogs and I hope that they still keep you entertained and you get some useful info out of them...
Take care...Michael
