August 14, 2011- Back home... This trip to Hangzhou was short, just 10 days. It is hot, hot, hot and humid in the summer in Hangzhou... I lived in Florida and Kansas and don't think I have felt humidity like that ever before.... Lots of fun and laughs this journey too. We had 20 new hires start at work, it was great seeing the department grow so quickly and make 20 new friends. Fell in love with the cook at the Vineyard cafe, he is from Boston and made the best pulled pork sandwich- could have lived off that the whole time - yum! Learned a few more mandarin words but it will take me years before I can even contemplate having a conversation in mandarin- LOL...
This trip, I was treated to a nice day of tea shopping and a day of KTV ( karaoke tv) with 10 of the local girls from the office. Purchased some wonderful jasmine tea and then off to KTV for 6 hours. If you have never been to China- let me tell you KTV is an experience. These bars are everywhere and are usually several stories. Most locals have VIP cards which allows
Birthday time
co workers bday- decorated his office with happy bday wishes him/her to reserve a room by purchasing just 150 RMB of snacks and drinks - that is 25 USD. The room has its own flat screen TV and karoake machine and mikes and you can get it for 4- 10 hours.
Had a blast every thursday night with fellow ex- pats doing trivia night at the Vineyard.. It was great catching up with friends that I have made out there and seeing the different seasons. I actually did better this time and ate more of the local cuisine and tried a new restaurant- I branched out from Subway for lunch everyday... 😊 I think this my last trip to the HZ for this year, may not be back till next year.
Glad to be back home, just adjusting to the time difference again....
