baoziBaozi, or steamed buns, usually filled with pork or eggplant or a mix of whatever, were half a kuai each, or 16 for a dollar. Two baozi would fill you up.
chinese fast food baoziEveryone eats baozi for breakfast, even urban professionals. Much cheaper than McDonalds, for instance.
street foodMore street food. All manner of bread products here. "Egg mcmuffins," buns filled with red bean paste, white bean paste, cabbage, pork, fried sesame buns, seasame dough balls, and all other manner of good street food!
cobbler's wifeThis is the resident hutong seamstress, who is married to the cobbler. They both work out of their home [green door behind her] in about a 10x12 ft space.
