We were up at 4.30am for the sunrise. We hiked up the side of the wall which is all unrecognisable shrubbery with am overgrown path.... Of sorts! The path led us to a tumble down area of the original wall which we climbed up. I am fairly certain, no I fact I am certain that there has been no health and safety risk assessment done on this activity! But I am afraid, yet again, we never saw the sunrise!
Although the walk did wake me up! To be fair, apart from the effects of the cold, the camping event wasn't too bad! My blocked sinuses and cold have definitely got worse over night, but after being vertical for a while, they did seem to improve! I felt so poorly through the night, I am hoping that I pull round today!
Well a bad start, wasted early morning, no sunrise, dangerous climb, cold damp weather, no sleep... And loaded with cold. It can only go up from here! We finally got back to the hostel at about 9.30 to find we have no rooms until after 12 ish. I think it is because I feel so ill, but I was
fuming. All the guide has done to us so far is lie. But, in his defence, my tolerance is a bit on the low side. I just want to enjoy every moment, and I know that I am not well enough!
I can't decide whether to go to the forbidden city this afternoon or not. My feeling ill is only getting worse. I am taking everything I can! NB - it is only a old, lack of sleep and excess climbing and walking! I will pull round! I did go to the forbidden city, what an absolute waste of time! Again, I am not myself, and I appreciate, it was my choice to go, but what a load of shite! There was seriously nothing to see, nothing for him to tell us, nothing for him to show us! And I was getting worse all the time!
It is about 40 degrees outside in the sun, there is no shade to be had, I needed to get back to the hostel quickly, I felt so ill. Finally, the guide sorted me out with a young girl to bet me and Zoe, who was also feeling the sun, a taxi.
He continued to lie to me on how far to go. I would have dipped out earlier because of how I'll I felt, if only he had old me the truth!
Griping over now!
I got back to the hostel and went straight to bed. I have had ibuprofen, got tiger balm on a hankie, taking my antibiotics, got strepsils. I have come down for a coffee and am definitely feeling much better! I will have an early night, and am confident that I will improve again tomorrow!
Today is Sintje's birthday. Andrea and I organised a birthday cake, cards and presents. They have all gone to TGI Fridays. I am a bit gutted that I haven't gone, but I know it is for the best, as I want to be better for tomorrow!
Happy birthday Sintje Xxx
