We’re a bit waterlogged as we have spent so much time swimming, On our own and with Alexander, and will probably have another one before breakfast tomorrow before we leave for Phnom Penh.

The water is as clear as crystal and tonight there there was the most glorious sunset. Sean had a bit of work to do this morning so we set off in a boat for an island, forgive me but I do not know its name. There are three that the local boats take people out to. We just went to the one that had the best beach. There we found Nak’s Shack cafe where the lady chopped a coconut especially for Alexander. He loves them. Ian’s beer just came in a can.

When we arrived at about 10am we were the the only boat on the beach but more and more arrived until it was quite crowded. Ian and Alexander looked for crabs in the quite large holes. One came out to look at us when some water accidentally was spilled into its hole. I’m not sure who got the biggest surprise, the crab or us. Most of the time was spent in the water. I’m sorry to admit that I got a bit sunburned. It’s a while since I’ve spent time in the shallows with a little person.

Coming home we could see a most spectacular thunderstorm developing over the land. Fortunately we arrived back before it hit.

Otres Beach was previously a hippie hangout but has now been ‘discovered ‘. Consequently there are a number of large resorts being built now. A couple of blocks back is the village where all the backpackers are. Sean took us to an amazing Italian restaurant for dinner which he had tried before.

Looking forward to summer arriving in NZ......
