Hey everyone well this is it finally with pics and everything (tell me if the pics look okay i had to drastically reduce the size and therefore the quality and this computer monitor is horrible and all my pics look bad) (also comments and messages are different comments i can let everyone see and messages just go directly to me email this is basically for my mom and dad as they dont email me but add comments that are basically emails to me) (and sorry no spell check) so onto what i have been up to.
Well ill start where i left off my first day in cambodia, i got up in the morning not really sure what to do so went and got my free breakfast, while there i met up with one of the people from my tour group emma. As that day was a free day and we where to meet in the evening me and emma decided to navigate the city together rather then getting lost on our own. So we went to the royal palace, the national museum where emma (who is partly japanese) was translating between a monk and some japanese university students it
was pretty wierd and funny at the same time and we got to talk to a monk for a while. We then went back and met up with the rest of our group which only consists of 5 people, emma a shoe designer from london, shane and michelle a couple from austalia (shane is irish though and still has the accent), our fearless leader (unless it involves spiders) marcus who is also a auzzie and then me. So once we where all introduced and everything we went out for supper at a place called friends which is a great place. The guy that runs it adopts orphan street kids and puts them in school (which is expensive) and teaches them to cook and english and improves there lives tremendously. The children also perform traditional dance which is very entertaining and the kids are so cute. Then back to the hotel and sleep.
The next day was also a partially free day so me and emma set off to the russian market although we really didn't want to buy anything here yet because we would be back at the end of the trip and we didn't want to make heavy
bags. At the market the fresh section made me gag a bit because of the drying fish and all the "fresh" fish and other meats the smells where just horrid but the shopping in the market is quit good and lots of souviners to be had here. After the market we met up with the group and went to Soi 21 and the killing fields which are both quit sad places, it didn't seem right to take pictures here as so many people where tortured and killed at these places when Pol Pot was in power. We had a great guide lead us through this place and he told some good stories but some where spine chilling. After the tours Marcus thought we should end the day on a happy note so we all went out for beers and then food at a place called friends which is also a good organization. Friends teaches young people off the street to cook and serve tables and make money and get off the street. Then back to the hotel and the end of another day.
It was on a bus at the start of the morning for this day and off
to spiderville (cant remember what the town is actually called). Her they serve up fried spiders (more like tarantulas), i got 3 of them put on me (live ones) by the people there and our tour guide freaked a little and ran away ( he is scared of spiders) and everyone took pictures. We then went and saw some temples (temples are everywhere) while a local showed us around them then we went to his house for an amazing lunch. Then some more traveling and check into hotels go out for dinner and sleep (sorry for the short explanations on this day im just trying to upload photos to)
Off to Siem Reap for today but with a stop along the way to the 1000 stairs (which turned out to be 960 so i guess the rounded up to make it sound more impressive) Marcus had never been there before so wasn't sure what was at the top so we decided to chance it and go. Going up the stairs lots of little kids follow you up fanning you as you go (we each had 2 kids), at the top was some amazing views along with some modern temples
and monkeys. The little kids and the monkeys where really funny because it was like they would take turns chasing each other, little kid chase monkey... monkey get fed up chase little kid... little kid laughing and screaming running from monkey. We then made our way to Siem Reap and went out for supper then for some beers at a local pub where you can write on the walls ( i have my name written on a wall in cambodia a buck for the first person to find it hahahaha) we also played some pool there then back to hotel for sleep as we had a big day ahead of us.
Today we went to the temples which are amazing, everyone should come and see these things there so cool and you can walk in them and around them and explore a lot. We saw the tombe raider temple today and another which i cant remember the name of right now. (not to much to say about today just loads of pics) Oh yah i have been taking tons of pictures ( i have also been designated the official picture taker because everyone likes my photos) i think i
Spiders crawling on me
dont worry i didn't eat any am approaching the 500 mark so i might have to burn some cds and clear the memory card. Well i should probably get going because i have to be up real early for sunrise at angkor wat (the big temple) so thats all for now.
