We started our day at 8am again and this was going to be a long day. We decided to go to 2 of the more remote temples that were 49km=30.5 miles and 37 km=almost 23 miles from Siem Reap, where we stayed.
We got to see lots of countryside and many homes/shacks along the way. I took a video of the route for about 2 minutes but it is too large to post to the blog(sorry).
1st temple Pre Rup built in 961.
2nd temple Kbal Spean built possibly in 11th-12th century this different than any other temple for he had to hike through the jungle for 1500 meters=almost 1 mile. The rocks were carved in the river and there was a waterfall. We ate lunch here and drank out of a fresh coconut.
3rd temple Banteay Srey built in 967 after viewing the temple we took a stroll down a long dirt road that said way of visit built after 10 minutes of walking we turned around cause we saw nothing, crazy asian signs that lead you to no where.
4th temple East Mebon built in 953
5th temple Ta Som built in late
Pete at Pre Rup
1st stop of the day 12th century This is a smaller temple and I bought the book "They Killed My Father First" from one of the poverty stricken kids. Google this book for Pete has read it and I am starting it this weekend. It is about the genocide that occurred in Cambodia from 1975-1979.
6th temple Neak Pean built in late 12th century. This temple is unique as you have to walk on planks of wood to get to it since the wet season just ended in Cambodia in October. The temple is surrounded by water.
7th temple Preah Khan built in 1191. It is the largest temple of the northeastern Angkor area and was the last stop for the day. We were exhausted by this point but it was very interesting and lots of rubble.
On our way back to the guesthouse there were locals selling banannas so you could feed the monkeys. Pete wasn't shy about it and bought one bananna and fed the monkeys. I was a little hesitant so I didn't do it but did pose for a picture.
For dinner we went to Pub Street in Siem Reap about a 5 minute walk from our
Hiking to Kbal Spean
Cambodian jungle in the background, used lots of skin so soft bug spray from Grandma Carroll guesthouse. We found a restaurant that had pizza for $6 and wine, I was in heaven. The pizza was great and the wine was refreshing after a long hot day of sightseeing.
Across the street was a fish foot massage place. I have seen this before online but never done it and decided it was time after 2 days of lots of walking and no pedicure since Oregon. It was VERY ticklish at first but then I got used to it and actually enjoyed it. Pete passed on the idea and sat at our table across the street and ordered more food since he wasn't full yet. Picture below of me was when I FIRST put my feet into the tank.

The temples are beautiful. I think you had earned your pedicure after all that walking and heat.
