After another bus ride that saw us sitting on bags or grain we arrived in Mandalay. Mandalay has little electricity and often (couple times a day and all through the night) it does not have power. The solution? massive generators as far as the eye can see in front of large buildings, on the side walk... on the street, everywhere. This makes Mandalay a loud place to sleep!

With that said, the people, the food, and the sights were worth it. We stayed in Mandalay for 4 nights and visited the ancient cities nearby in the day and came back at night to sit in beer stations, eat chapati and curry at our favorite chapati stand, and even caught a mustache brothers performance! Ah the whole Mustache brothers thing, not really worth it for those going. Basically 3 comedian brothers used to make fun of their government with puppet plays, then the government threw 1 of them in jail for 8 years in a hard labor camp, yes for making jokes like on SNL. Well now released they do a show for tourists out of their basement. Kinda entertaining but both of us though more of a waste of time,
