I had no idea what to expect from Burma. Out of all the travelers I have met along the way, only two had actually been there before. Everyone else had stories of people they knew who knew other people who had dared to risk traveling within Myanmar's untouched territory. ...and then pulled it back up again. I couldn't see that he caught any fish though so I'm not too sure how the basket fishing actually works

We hired a boat for the day for $10 USD. Such a great tour of the lake - so picturesque and absolutely breathtaking. One of the top highlights of my entire trip actually

We met these guys on the bus from Yangon and shared the boat tour. There were a lot of laughs, such a good day!

I had already seen these villagers in northern Thailand, but it was nice to see the women in their homeland.

We were told that the practice of putting rings around the female's calfs and necks was to protect them from being mauled by tigers - these days its for beauty and in keeping with longstanding tradition.

The villagers grow gardens on the lake and sell their produce in the markets

This place was just weird. They have all these cats that hang around there and they force them to jump through hoops for the tourists. I thought it was very cruel and the cats were clearly unimpressed!
