A different continent, a different culture, a different landscape and a different experience.After quite a bit of time travelling in Asia, we were looking for a bit of change.Besides the North, Africa is most probably one of the least visited continents in the world, and it's understandable with some of the issues in some countries. Kasese Queen Elisabeth National Parc lies in the south of Uganda. It is surrounded by plantages with banana's, coffee, papaya, mango, vanille, cacao, avocado, sorghum, cassave and papyrus. Inside the parc Kazinga channel connects Lake George with Lake Edward. It is full of life. We see buffalo's, wathogs (pumba in the Walt Disney movie "King of the Lions"), hippo's, nile crocodiles, Uganda kob (a kind of antilope) and a lot of birds like kingfishers, hamerkop, saddlebilled stork, spurwinged plover, blackheaded heron and the great white pelican. It is a big spectacle, specially when the kingfishers steal the fishes the cormorants just catched, while African fish eagles and lap faced vultures overview the show. Like the poor boy in that news story I also get a bit shafted on my way out of Uganda's capital. Once again I am shamelessly lied to by the usual hucksters that inhabit the main bus station in Kampala. Although repeatedly assured that the bus goes to my desired destination of Fort Portal, I learn too late that it in fact does a massive loop south-west then north to Kasese. Discovering this halfway into the journey I get off at the tongue twisting Mbarara, demand half my money back and give the bus guys a self-important and inevitably futile telling off for their mendacity.
