ROC On Karagwe - Day 1FridayIf you have been following the ETI website, the ETI Travelblog, ETI’s Facebook or Twitter, you know that we are in Karagwe, Tanzania now working on the Rural Opportunity Centers. Bruce Engel of BURO Engel Architects and I are working with the Karagwe Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in order to plan the design of centers or hubs located in rural areas as extensions or satellites of Karagwe University College (KARUCO). ETI arrived to Entebbe at 10:55PM - tired but too excited to let our eyelids drop. Customs was rather streamlined and we easily found our friend and driver from the 2 Friends Hotel. It seems we were just here for the KARUCO Dedication and Inauguration and the staff at 2 Friends said so also. Our rooms are comfortable and cool. Just wanted you all to know we've arrived in Entebbe and are headed to Karagwe tomorrow.
Raised in a close, Minnesota farm family who took travel adventures all over the U.S. and Canada, I was introduced to community and global causes. I maintained a global focus with my husband and as a professor who helped build learning centers around the world. I resigned my university position and am President/CEO of a Minnesota-based nonprofit building KARUCO-Karagwe University College- in Tanzania. Our partners too are globally minded and intent on bettering their lives and economic condition. This blog will help tell the story.
