baobob over salt production baobob over salt production baobob over salt production

on our way to see the hippos, early morning view of baobob placed strangely amongst salt production pools
ended up negotiating a tent to sleep in, which was lovely. camp fires, beach sounds, village sounds, and even animal sounds (including lion roaring yesterday morning) rocked me to sleep. went on safari the next day. got ripped off by the park ranger. hired a local vehicle. took a local amazing guide who knows so much---for any travellers coming across this---andrew starting a new "warthog camp". was going to be great budget trip. five minutes into the drive we have to forge a newly-formed river. made it. see some giraffe, antelopes, lots of warthogs, beautiful birds, some kind of rare antelope type things (so im not great at remembering this type of thing but i wrote them all down somewhere and have pictures ill put some up). got stuck in the mud. spent most of the day exhausting myself trying to push the truck out. had to walk back to the village, which was a blessing because it gave us a unique walking safari in a place you arent allowed to walk for fear of lions attacking and such. so we walked in the bush about 15 kilometers and swam that river i told you about and got help in the village. i took a little swim in the ocean which was lovely because we were so hot and sunburn. walked back with help, went on a bit more of a drive looking for elephants in the north, but had to come home because of the dark. the driver promised us to see the hippos since we had such a bad day (though it was very good, just a few troubles) and so we woke at five yesterday to take the hour drive down to the wami river. had to make it back for the only dala dala to the next village---which left at 8. we were going to make it, saw amazing salt production and flamingo groups, and some hippos kindof far away sitting in this river of peace, and on the way back got stuck again! so we missed dala dala and then the driver wanted money for the second day. we got in a big fight but anyway had to pay him more or he threatened to beat up our friend, and so we had to find other transport back. went on the shabbiest taxi ive ever seen. it broke down every five minutes and he didnt use any gas if we were going downhill the slightest bit. but we made it to miono village and got a dala dala back to dar. wishing now i wasnt here. really sick of the pollution and noise and people here and cant wait for travelling in the countryside this summer. hope you all are well, will put pictures soon. promise
