Well the trip so far has been great at least from a tourist perspective … I got off the plane in Dar Es Salaam and was taken to the FPCT (The Free Pentecostal Church of Tanzania) compound. The rooms were like those you would find in an ‘80’s hotel that hadn’t seen any up grades in a while. Oh well, I am in Africa not the Holiday Inn in Cambridge!! We left the compound at 4:00 AM as it will be a 1200 km ride to Tabora … that was a 16 hour trek!! The roads were OK for a while, but then they became horrible … I can only relate it to some of the roads that go to the shore in Nova Scotia … they weren’t roads. Monday November 10 2008 Well the day has been a wee bit slower. I slept fine until 5:15 AM when a rooster decided to announce the day’s arrival. He continued for quite some time!!! I slept on and off until 7:15. I got up got dressed and went for a walk. Since there is no running water I simply washed my face and headed out. Breakfast arrived at 8:00 AM, Elias arrived at 8:30 … I’m finding that time is not really an issue here. In fact I’m starting to believe that it doesn’t even really matter. How nice, our lives are governed by the clock, we cram so much into so little time, yet these folks worry about it another day if it doesn’t happen today. Tuesday Nov 11 2008 What a great day … this morning was a little slow, but by noon we were well on our way with some good stuff. David and his son Nathan arrived at around 11:OO AM we decided on how to get to all of the 67 kids within 3 days. Our goal was to get a letter from each child so that we can send the notes to the Sponsors. Our first stop was to a family who were about as poor as you can imagine. The house that was 8 X 20 housed 6 kids and their mother. It was nothing more then a shanty … when we pulled up to the house kids came out of the wood work. They all wanted their picture taken. Nov 9 2008 What a day … I got to Alafati, the child we sponsor. He is soooo cute, brought a tear to my eye to see him so pleased with the gifts we brought him … tell you more later. The day started by going to church, that was an experience they spoke Swahili throughout the service, Samuel gave me some info but not much. Samuel was awesome today. He offered to take me to see Alafati and then to the Internet Café, but he also gave me a tour of the town, boy this is a poor area!! I’ve never seen such poverty and such poor living conditions. These folks are the poorest of the poor … they latterly have what they wear and a few personal belongings but they are few and far ... read more

Well In am really teting my typing skills now the key board I am using has most of the letters rubbed off ... and I only hahve a few minites The trip has been great from a tourist perspective .. I got off the plane in Dar Es Salaam and wast taken to a centre to get some rest for my 4:00 AM trip to Tabora. Tabora is 1200 kms away and on these roads thats a 16 hour trip! The roads were a mess, some were OK but most were nothing more then goat paths. I had a nice piece written but have to use their computors, can't connect mine. Well here I am almost ready to go ... this has been quite the day, it's finally really hit me.
