01 Resting
Two of the wild dogs resting by the track. Geo: -24.7605, 26.3246
This afternoon I went on a game drive. At first the drive was very quiet, until we came across a pack of wild dogs resting on the track. Nearby there were a couple of zebra, but unfortunately the wild dogs did not seem interested in the zebra.
Slowly the dogs started to get up and stretch. The dogs became active and started to play by biting and jumping about on each other. They were all up now and on their feet. I didn't know where to look as the pack were spread out around the two vehicles and all the dogs were now active. Wild dogs are such special animals. They are an endangered species and Madikwe has three packs in the park. It is one of the best places to view the wild dogs in Southern Africa. I love how each dog's coloured patches are unique to each other.
About fifteen minutes after we arrived all the dogs started to walk away. We started to follow them, but unfortunately the dogs walked off the track and into thick bush. We were not able to follow them any more.
On the way back to the lodge we saw some male
02 Zebras
