This morning we were woken up at 6:30am. We quickly got dressed, layered up so that we were ready for the early morning chill and went to the lodge for a small breakfast. At 7am we left for our game drive. As we drove out of the lodge we saw a pair of spotted hyenas. They were walking along the road away from us. It was a very beautiful sight with the morning mist still to rise.

Further on we spotted a couple of giraffe and a large herd of wildebeest in the distance. We spent quite a bit of time watching these two species. An hour later we came across the same pride of lions that we saw yesterday. Once again they were lying on the road. One of the male lions then got up and walked over to the other ones and lay down again. We stayed for a while but there was not much happening, so we drove away.

We then came across a herd of buffalo that were right by the road. It was a nice sight as there were also young ones. The young ones are a sandy colour. The herd was just resting,

half of them sitting and half of them standing. This morning was a longer drive than normal as we saw so many interesting sightings and it would have been a shame to rush back to the lodge just to be back on time. We them came across what I thought was an interesting sighting – many hippos out of the water in the middle of the day. There were about a dozen of them. They were laying close together by the side of the dam.

At around 12pm we arrived back at the lodge and enjoyed a huge delicious brunch. Paul and I relaxed for a few hours. I enjoyed a bubble bath while looking out onto the bush and listening to some music. We also sat on the deck and observed the many species of birds.

Before we knew it, it was time again for afternoon tea. After a quick snack we set out again for a safari. Our first sighting was a herd of wildebeest that all stopped to look at us when we stopped and then they walked away. Later on we saw a pair of lions resting in the grass. The sighting list for the day was

Once again when we returned to our room after the drive, there was a bubble bath waiting for us. We could not resist, so we had a quick bath, which also warmed us up. It was another nice, relaxing evening.
