01 Giraffe

This afternoon I went along for a game drive with the guests. We had so many terrific sightings. It started with a close encounter with a tower of giraffe. We watched them for quite a while as they stood there and ate leaves and then slowly walked away.
Twenty minutes later we came across some zebras. It was a nice sighting, as there were adults and baby zebra. The baby zebra was drinking milk from its mother.
Our next close sighting was a huge, male elephant. He was eating grass by the side of the road as we stopped to watch him.
For the next half an hour we were very lucky to the wild dogs. There are three packs of wild dogs in the reserve and this was one of the larger ones. We came across the pack on the road. Some of them were active and some were still sleeping.As we slowly arrived they started to wake up and become active. They were busy playing with each other- such a fantastic sighting. Everyone took many photos as these animals are the main attraction in Madikwe and are not seen often enough. At this time of the day the

One of the younger giraffe looking at us. light was amazing for photography. It was then time for them to start hunting and they ran off into the bush, we followed them for as long as we could. Then it was time to head back to the lodge.
