01 Lioness
A lioness laying in the shade. Geo: -24.7867, 26.2903
This afternoon I joined Paul and his parents on a game drive. His parents have come to Jaci's for a short visit. About ten minutes into the drive we heard of a lion on a kill on the radio. Soon after we arrived. The lioness was laying about and resting. About 20 metres away from here was her kill - a zebra. The kill was not very fresh at all. It was drying up and covered in flies. I would be surprised if she was still eating from it. We watched her for a little while, but she was not doing much. Then we continued on.
Our next sighting was a black rhino hiding in the bushes and quite shy. We were not able to observe it for very long as it took off. Further along the road we saw a lonesome dagga boy (old male buffalo) and lots of plains animals - giraffe, zebra, red hartebeest, kudu and impala.
At the end of the drive we enjoyed a beautiful sunset, as the animals ate grass.
