Much of South Africa consists of a vast plateau called the Highveld averaging1500m in height. In the Drakensberg there is an escarpment dropping 1000m to the lower eastern part of the country called the Lowveld. We spent the day driving 90k along the escarpment visiting waterfalls, viewpoints and interesting geological features.
We stayed in the Blyde River Canyon one of the largest in Africa.
