On my trip to South Africa I had to go on a Safari. I flew into Cape Town and booked a two day tour to explore some of the Western Cape wildlife. It was a beautiful drive down to Mosel Bay, where we stopped for coffee and then further to the first national park. Here we joined a game drive around the area. The animals were quite shy that day, we did however ended up seeing some female lions chilling in the bushes and a white rhino. For the night we were put up at a lodge and for dinner I tried an Ostrich burger for the first time, very interesting taste. Our host put on a little fire and we roasted some marshmallows. The next day we visited another reserve called Buffelsdrift . The first ... read more

You dream about this little corner of the world...you may even have your ticket for Christmas....but today, you learn in the news for the first time about B.1.1.529, or newly name, the Nu covid Variant. In few hours today, we found out that most countries could/will not welcome people having visited South Africa the last few days. British Airways and KLM won't fly in and out anymore. From tomorrow Emirates will not fly you out...only in South Africa. Lufthansa will take back home only Germans, with a 14 days quarantine on arrival. Singapore airlines will halt, I guess tomorrow Air France too. Maybe Qatar will remain! Ethiopian is a risky business these days with their own little domestic war going on. Trap in SA....and it's not that bad of a movie! Yesterday we had 2500 new ... read more

After the Blue Train, here we are on for four nights around Cape Town before being back home for a few days. Lately all trips to Cape Town have been part of way longer trips. So now that we have a short stay, let's splurge a little for once. We spent our first night and last night in Cape Town...and 2 nights in between in gorgeous Franschoek. The food on the Blue Train was decent, but far away from any top restaurant you could dream of. Definitively nothing you could call a Michelin experience. We are actually glad that the little Red Book hasn't made it to South Africa yet. We would probably have lots of stars in the country, but with those comes quite often the price tag. Over the next few days, we are ... read more

A Promenade Walk Along the Ocean The walk today started below Lion Head Mountain. The peak forms part of a dramatic backdrop to the city of Cape Town and is part of the Table Mountain National Park. The sun was starting to set as we walked along the promenade of the affluent Bantry Bay Area. We learnt how Charles Darwin made important geological observations here relating to the nature and origin of granite. url=https://www.heygo.com/tours/a-promenade-walk-along-the-ocean-and-a-chat?utm_source=tour_share_link&utm_content=1179https://www.heygo.com/tours/a-promenade-walk-along-the-ocean-and-a-chat... read more

Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden is acclaimed as one of the great botanic gardens of the world. Few gardens can match the sheer grandeur of the setting of Kirstenbosch, against the eastern slopes of Cape Town’s Table Mountain. It is now winter in Cape Town the gardens are full of colour especially the proteas. Kirstenbosch enjoys a Mediterranean climate, with a long, hot, dry summer (November-March) and a short, cool, rainy winter (June-August). Stunning flowers with a wonderful backdrop. http://www.heygo.com... read more

6th April - West Coast National Park in 3 parts! The West Coast National Park offers overwhelming natural beauty, established in 1985. With our knowledgeable guide we were able to walk the shores of the lagoon, visit a hide where we were very lucky to see flamingos, stroll along the salt marsh and before we finished the tour see in the distance a group of four ostrich. As we walked we discovered tracks of Eland, Cape Fox, & Porcupine. We saw on the rocks Dassie and many other birds as they flew around the lagoon. The succulents with their wonderful textures and colours together with the blue sea and mountain made for a truly amazing experience. Added to the adventure Kersten with the aid of his camera was able to bring into view the flock of ... read more

This is a nature walk along the rugged West Coast of South Africa. A short drive north of Cape Town, close and far enough to the city. This is where coastal lifestyle meets rural hospitality and where diversity in the tidal zone is a given. The cold Atlantic currents transports rich southern waters along this spectacular coastline, and the ocean always has something to offer. Birds, waves and natures masterpieces of eroded rocks on the crust of the ancient continent. Join me in the search for Dassies, African Oystercatchers and dramatic coastal views. http://www.heygo.com... read more
