Our first stop was George to stop in to see a friend and hit the beach for a couple of days. When I say hit the beach, it was winter so we mainly walked the many trails in the area of Buffels bay. We had decided to complete a short walk in the Plettenberg bay area inside the national park. Just a short walk so no need for drinks and snacks! Famous last words. With non of us dressed for the adventure, wearing jeans! we headed off and walked through the amazing forest area which borders the beach. It wasn't a particularly challenging walk and soon we found ourselves on the beach, just as it started to rain. We sat for a while deciding which way back and throwing pebbles into the sea. We continued our ... read more

What do you do when your mother-in-law wants to take you and your wife to a sex shop?? I was driving with Lindsey and Sharon down a road in the middle of a desert region. There were no settlements for miles and even the scattered farmhouses had petered out. Then I saw a sign on the road for Ronnie's Sex Shop. I thought it was a strange place for such an enterprise but thought little more of it. Then Sharon insisted that we pay a visit. We had started the morning in a rush trying to get everything packed up but we were finally sitting in the car ready to leave. I joked with Gandalf about driving his car at 120kmph through the veld. Then I started the car and it rolled back. I was struggling ... read more

Left Cape Town and headed out into the Karoo - stunning scenery, alpine mountains, beautiful valleys and exciting gorges. The Huguenot Tunnel is an incredible piece of civil engineering. Through the north of the wine lands and out into the bush to see the animals. Gemma hugely excited for her Safari... no disappointment though for her - great fun bouncing around the jeep spotting the game..... read more

Cheers loyal followers, We left Cape Town this morning for a road trip out to Sanbona Wildlife Reserve for our first ever African safari. I turned on the radio about 5 minutes into the trip and Journey was full into the first chorus of "Don't Stop Believing". Couldn't have been a better indication of how the rest of our day would go. It was about a 3 hour drive out to the welcome lodge at Sanbona, then another hour to our "tents" in the reserve. This place is incredible. We are pretty worn out from getting up at 6 this morning, but I think Brady will have some more to say. Off to the showers and bed for me we have a wakeup call at 630 tomorrow for another game drive. Oh yea, side note, I ... read more
