Finally I went somewhere new and exiting...Seychelles! Wow, it’s a mix of the Cape and Natal with palm trees.
The flight was a short easy 4.5h and we were in paradise. We stayed in a hotel on Mahe Island, Baie Beau Vallon Bay. The beach was unforgettable perfect with cool blue water and shiny white sand. The only time I was not on the beach was at night. The sun is deadly and you have to watch it or you will be caught with a painful reminder when you step into the shower. You can hide from the sun under the big trees growing on the beach with a warm breeze rustling though the leaves.
The next day I went to the capital, Victoria. It consists of about 8 streets crossing each other a few stores (the bare min available in the supermarket) and souvenir stores (all selling the same thing at ridiculous prices). There I had early dinner at a restaurant called ‘The Pirates Arms’. The fish was as fresh as you can get and melted in my mouth.
At dusk it was beautiful to walk along the beach and watch the sun set.
The other crew was too lazy to walk with me so I went alone and explored. The houses are similar to SA and everything is so peaceful and green. What blew my mind every time was the mountains rising high above Baie Beau Vallon Bay.
The last day I spent on the beach again and you don’t even need your snorkel you can just look down where you are swimming and you see the fish. In the harbour I saw a stingray minding his own business. One of the crew and I bought some local food from a small take away place we found while exploring. It was very affordable and delicious!
This morning before the flight I quickly ran down and took my last walk in perfection!
