30k southward from Swakopmund is the deep water port town of Walvis Bay and we went for a morning cruise in the bay. The captain had hoped to show us two types of dolphin but they weren’t around. Instead we saw seals, pelicans and flamingos.

Swakopmund has a strong German history with wide palm lined streets and attractive well maintained buildings from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. We had a pleasant couple of hours strolling around the town in the afternoon.
