We had arranged a day trip to Volubis, which is about an hour and a half away from Fez and is the main Roman ruins in Morocco. It was a good day and not too hot, in fact we actually needed our jackets at the ruins which to us seemed wonderful! We stopped by a lake on the way and took lots of photos, in fact there are so many photos taken that it is taking me ages to sort through them and it will be a huge task to get them sorted for albums (I had hoped to start while we are here but actually don’t have the time to) We spent ages just wandering around the ruins and had a picnic - which was really good as we really weren’t wanting full on tagine/couscous meals in the middle of the day which seemed to be the option (and that we had to have on our Marrakesh day trip). After that there was only time for a brief stop in Meknes (another previous capital city, like Fez and Marrakesh). The mini bus we travelled in, like the others, was a very comfortable 9 seater people mover.
