I always seem to wake up before anyone else! I was awake at 7.30 this morning, but was conscious that everyone else was still sleeping! I tried to stay in bed for longer, so as not to wake them, but I do find that difficult!
I got up a second time, I made a coffee, and took it back to my bed. I watched Taboo on my iPad for a while, then heard Ella get up.
We chatted a while, then she took me upstairs to show me their roof terrace. It's an amazing panoramic view of Tamraght; taking in Taghazout to one side, some houses lower down, then Devil's Rock, the beach, and the sea rolling out as far as the eye can see. The apartment is west facing, so it has a perfect clear view of the sunsets.
The plan is loosely set for today, my chest got burnt on day one, which was very much agitated by the skin scrub at the hammam.... I hadn't even realised that I had burnt! I certainly know about it now!
We went for breakfast, I now becoming an, 'amlou' regular! I like to finish my
breakfast with amlou and bread!
We took a 5 minute drive down to Devils Rock. It is hot today; about 28 degrees! Ella and Chakib chat with many friends at the rock; introducing me along the way. They all are pleased to meet us all, double kisses all round, and they are also collecting shopping requests as we go because not all of their friends can get to Agadir when they want to, so if someone is going, they will readily pick stuff up for each other.
Back on the road again, we pull off to the left to view a piece of Chakib's land on the higher ground, and sea/beach front.... big plans ahead!
Back on the road again, we are now aiming to go to a town called Ait Milloul. It is located in the suburban area of Agadir just south east of Inezgane, on the southern bank of the Sous River. Then through, and on to Ben Gamoun. It's been about an hour drive in the belting heat, thank goodness for air con! We went here to look at the local pottery. We saw how is is made, and decorated by local tradesmen. We
bought a few bits. I bought Ella and Chakib a barbecue; it's not like any barbecue you would recognise at home. It's made of thick clay, with a really solid iron frame and stand, and all handmade. It reminds a bit of an old fashioned pizza oven! I got it for their, moving into their new home, and looking after me' gift! They are both delighted with it! Happy days!
We get back on the road to return to Agadir to go to the souk. We bought vegetables, eggs, a box of bite size bedtime, treat biscuits... a kilo amlou!! And other bits and pieces. I think I will book a hold case on the return flight, just to bring the amlou home! On the way out of the soul, we stopped to have some cactus fruit (figue de Barbarie rouge)
After shopping we went straight to the beach at Devil's rock. Ella and Chakib had a couple of friends, and had a few beers. It has been so ridiculously hot all day today, with no wind to cool us down! It's been about 30 degrees, and it's not even summer!
As it cooled down we set
off home. Chakib is making a chicken tagine for us for dinner. As he was preparing and cooking it, he was showing me,explaining what he was using, and how he was going to cook it. It smells amazing in here.
Once the tagine was on, and cooking, I set about cutting Ella and Chakib's hair. It took an hour for the tagine to cook; we sat down for dinner at about 9.30. It was gorgeous, really tasty due to all the different spices he used. Tagine is the typical Moroccan dish, eaten all over Morocco.
So that's the end to another 'busy' day. We are definitely going to take it easy tomorrow!
