Day 12 - Leave Marrakesh, return to Taghazout, Agadir
My roomy Heather left very early this morning, practically in the middle of the night. Sorry Heather, I simply could not wake up, but I do have a vague recollection of you leaving. Silence is golden!
I had breakfast with a mix of people this morning. We all met to say our final farewell to Khaled, I've been calling him Haled the whole time! He's been a great CEO, GADV did well again, as always!
Everyone is going off in different directions today due to leaving at different times. It was sad to say goodbye to Sarah and Cy, I gave got on with them both really well over the time here. Also Gary, and, 'there's my gal' Jocelyn. With all four of them; lived the chats, and time spent.
I set off walking, thinking I would go to the medina for my last few hours here. I was stopped by a guy who works in the hotel, he told me the medina doesn't open until 3pm today!
Stupidly, I was convinced by him to go to a shopping place .... On his motorbike! We whizzed through
the streets of Marrakesh! Oh no, not another cooperative, I soon realised, and left by a side door! I was near to Starbucks, so had a coffee instead!
I think I'll stick to walking!
I continued walking back; a man outside a shop recognised my, 'I love Hull' badge. He talked about knowing Yorkshire etc, seeing I was anxious to get back to my hotel, he got a cup of tea and a chair. He asked what had happened; I explained, he was angry that some people give Morocco a bad name. I wrote in his book what had happened, he said he would deal with it! He insisted that he would give me a gift of a pair if Fatima hand earrings to show me that not all Moroccan people are unfair. I did try to resist the gift, but it just wasn't happening! Finally, I accepted them; then he walked me back to the hotel. Lesson learned!
I met Vikram, he was just about to leave for the airport, so I gave him a hug and a final farewell. Vikram is such a well mannered, educated person, with naive innocence, which is so charming. A pleasure
to spend time with.
I sat with Heather (2) and Shebs around the pool, in the sun, for a while. We were joined by Hope. I decided to go with Hope for Starbucks coffee. I know I've just had one, but my time is running out in Marrakesh, there's not a lot more I can do before leaving.
It was nice to spend a bit of one to one time with Hope, as I really haven't done during the tour. Again, really nice girl, young and sweet.
Finally, it is my time to leave. I got my backpack on, I swear, it weighs a ton! I have my Moroccan coat and camel hair jumper in my bag, they are huge.... And heavy!
I walked to the station and got my bus back to Agadir.
It was about a four hour journey with a half hour toilet stop before arriving. I waited for about 20 mins, then Ella and Chakib arrived to collect me to take me back to Cli Surf in Tagazout. I was pleased to see their happy faces. We stopped off for a fresh juice on the way.
We arrived at Cli.
They are awaiting the arrival of a group of 14 from Hull University. It'll be like home from home!
