On behlaf of HSK I just wanted to say a big thankyou to MC, Steve (AKA Mr Phipps), Lindsey, Alexia, Mark and Nick for the most extradoniary amount of hard work they put into Kekopey Secondary School. Hi everyone Finally managed to find an internet cafe to update you all! We are having the most amazing time - Kenya is the most beautiful place and the people so genuine. Mark, Lindsey, MC, STeve and Alexia have cleared all of the rubble from Eburru school and moved all the new desks into their classrooms. We have then moed onto the Kekopey project and Mark has run all the electric for the new girls toilets that UBM raised money for. Steve, MC and Alexia have done an amazing job of all the plastering although I'm pretty sure they got more in their hair then they did the wall loL! We are also digging the waste trench to the ne septic tank - Nick has been the alpha male and won't stop until it has been ... read more

Day 2 Melville team arrived for their first day in Nairobi Some orientation and team briefing dinner at the Carnivore Restaurant ..... way too much meat!!! Day 3 Up at 6am and off to Gilgil, 3 hour drive through some spectactular scenery. Our first school visit to Eburru Primary School, amazing and emotional. A huge welcome from all the children and their parents, lots of speeches and singing plus some traditional African food! Our new desks arrived but unfortunately there was no sign of the delivery truck with all of our equipment....... Then it was off to Kekopey, HSK'S flagship school and UBM's school for all its donations. Very emotional for Amie who expectedly balled it! Another presentation, had a look around the project site we will be working on next week! Still no sign of ... read more

Well we left you on a high note and we are happy to report that the good times keep rolling on. We packed the car after climbing the dunes and getting sandy and dirty requiring a pit stop under a desert tree to have camp showers. We then drove 2 hours to the Naukluft Mountains and to the mountain zebra camp. We were the only ones there and we were stoked. However some very nervous Swedish man and his South African girlfriend arrived and decided to park right next to us. Why I do not know as Geoff and Kit had just exploded a fire cracker- sounded more like a bomb- off in the bin and both of them were shirtless running around with their pen knives while a storm was going on. Geoff looked psychopathic. ... read more

We have been in Kenya for two weeks and have settled well. The first week was focused on preparing Dominic and Benedict for Pembroke School, including a trip to Nairobi for uniforms and the multitude of items required by two boys at boarding school. The boys have, throughout, been remarkably mature about going to board, and I must say as the Sunday start date approached it was definitely us rather than the boys who appeared the more apprehensive with many ‘are we doing the right thing?’, ‘is Benedict too young?’ questions being asked late at night when the boys were tucked up in bed. The ‘Big Day’ dawned and we got all their kit prepared and packed. They looked so grown up in their Pembroke uniforms, and both were so proud of themselves. We took them ... read more
