Hi all - forgot to get to the point of the story about meeting the boys on the beach the other day. Wanted to tell you their names. Not Sunshine Emergency Department strange, but amusing all the same. One was called Friday, and two were called Alex (they are brothers). Brigid is laughing at me and telling me that they have two mothers, which they do, but they have one father and I think it's a little odd to have two children of the same name. Anyway, here are some photos of them.
Kiswahili lessons start tomorrow. Stay tuned. Kx
PS It bucketed non-stop for at least 8 hours today. Guess the wet season is in full force
PPS Have been watching Kenyan music videos and South African soap operas with the owner of our guesthouse over dinner. It is a bizarre truth that soaps and the people in them are the same the world over....
PPPS After running past some Kenyan women from the lab yesterday, I now have some running buddies. They assure me they don't go fast, but how slow can a Kenyan woman go?? I sense I'm in for a whipping. Actually, the running is damn

Pretty nice looking beach, eh? Actually, the sand was so reflective and the sun so bright that it was really hard to keep your eyes open without sunglasses on. Lucky I had them with me, eh Joey?!
hard work even in the cooler part of the day because of the heat.
PPPPS Happy Anzac Day

Two of the village boys. The one looking at the camera assured me that the song 'You are my African Queen' is by someone called the Fisherman. I have since learnt it's actually by an artist called 2face. Dirty little liar!!!

Water please
KHDH, Next time it rains can you please collect some water and send it over. The footy oval at Poowong needs it. Isn't it ironic that a third world country has torrential rains and yet we in the "first world" are in a drought.

Hey Unco, we thought we would make a quick trip over to your blog and say hi *waves*! It looks like you're having a most fabulous time...not working too hard we see! Danni wants to know how the monkeys are? Claire wants to make sure Brigid isn't married yet?! And we both want to make sure that either of the Alex children does not have the surname Howell now?! Hope everything continues to go well, we will pop back over soon! Love Claire and Danni xoxoxo

Hamjambo rafiki yake Shorty! (Hello, friends of Shorty)
Hey Danni and Claire - Brigid not yet married, but I'm working on that one. The boys on the side of the road tell us they love us (but we all know they're talking to her). And, you can see my next blog entry for details of Brigid's first real Kenyan suitor. And, she is working on more by letting them know her criteria. She told the waiter at dinner last night that she wants beef stew with wealth (wealth is 'mali', she was trying to say rice, which is 'wali'). We haven't adopted the Alex boys, but Brigid is sure to come back with at least 2 kids, purely because she can't detach them from her leg. She was totally cactus last night after riding them round on her bike all day. Hope you're annoying Joey and Stevie sufficiently that they're not feeling they're missing their 'children' too much. K x
