On Tuesday 26th July I headed off to Watamu for 2 weeks voluntary work on the coast. Decided to take the overnight train 'the iron snake' from Nairobi to Mombasa. Departure time was 7pm and due to arrive in Mombasa at 9am the next day. Welcome to my blog about my upcoming adventure to Kenya. I will be spending 3 to 6 mths in Nairobi. During this time I will be volunteering at St.Dorcas Children's home in the Kawangware slum. St Dorcas looks after about 125 children ranging from 3 to 16 years old. 75 of them stay at the orphanage and another 50 come each day for schooling. They are a mix of street children, suffering from HIV/AIDS or abandoned from broken marriages. I hope you get as much out of reading this blog as I hope to get out of this opportunity.
