Today was really challenging. The kids in my class really didn't care to listen to anything I had to say. After lunch, Emily and I went back to the orphanage to pick up the oldest four girls to have a girls day. Sistofe, Patience, Togbe Rachel, and Esinu are all between 6-8 years old and never get to act like kids. They are constantly caring for other kids at the orphanage.

When we arrived in the blue van they were really excited to see us. When they found out that they got to leave with us they had really confused looks on their faces and were ecstatic. I told Sistofe to get her shoes and she told me she didn't have shoes.

We all piled into the van and it was nonstop chatter from thereon. Dela (our driver) was laughing and translated their excitement for Emily and me. He then told them something in Ewe and they responded "Yo" which is a random response, simultaneously and became silent. He said that he told them if they couldn't be quiet they wouldn't be able to go to market.

We got out of the van and immediately went to find Sistofe a pair of shoes. We got her some flip flops and started to walk through the market. Sistofe tugged on my hand and gave me the sweetest "Sister Kacie, thank you!" EVER. We gave them each $1.00 to spend as they wished. They couldn't believe it.

We walked around the market and they thanked us profusely for the money. It was really funny to hear all of them say that the first thing they wanted to buy was a hard boiled egg which they all did end up buying. They also bought toffee, juice boxes, and FanMilk.

We walked aroudn town and locals kept telling us what the girls were talking about. They kept talking to each other about how we were buying them anything they want and about how they were having the best day of their lives.

When we took them back to our home, they insisted on doing our laundry. We tried to get them to play but kids here don't understand the concept of playing before working. We played catch with a baseball (Esinu is pretty much professional) and sat around eating cookies. Rachel was really intrigued by the toilet and shower as she has never used either.

We took them back to Christ and it was just the best day, unbelievably rewarding. After we dropped them off we ate dinner and went to Malaysias. They were playing Nigerian music videos on their new big screen which was super funny.
